Which ogx shampoo for coloured hair?

Answer # 1 #

Here is the review of the top OGX Shampoos which includes the best OGX shampoo for hair loss, Asian hair, blonde hair, dry scalp, oily hair, dandruff and other hair concerns.

When it comes to hair products, OGX has made a niche for itself. So today, we’re going to look at some of the best OGX shampoo in the market!

If you wanted us to name one hair care item that is indispensable, we would say shampoo. But sadly, it’s often the most ignored one too.

Lots of people have the impression that shampoo merely exists to clean your scalp and hair, but it’s so much more than that.

You can use all the hair styling products you want, but if your shampoo is not up to the mark, you can forget about having those healthy, lush tresses.

Which brings us back to the question, “What shampoo brand do I use?”

While there are quite a few… Oh, who are we kidding! There is a mind-boggling number of shampoos stacked on the aisles of any supermarket.

But one drugstore brand stands out – OGX. What’s so special about it? Well, for one thing, even the best OGX shampoo is very pocket friendly.

And for another, the natural and gentle ingredient list keeps your hair happy.

There are so many chemicals and harsh components in some shampoos that can do more harm than good.

Here’s how I checked if the OGX shampoos are good for you:

Don’t know what OGX shampoo to pick? Here’s a easy guide!

How I tested the best OGX shampoos?

There are simply so many OGX shampoos in the market so I tested a few top ones (they’re all very affordable thank goodness!) and rated them on a scale of 1-5 according to the following criteria.

Gentleness of Formula – No matter what kind of OGX shampoo it is, it should have harsh surfactants like SLS or SLES in it.

Suitability for Hair Type – Now every shampoo is tailored to a different hair issue and type, I just checked if it’s actually worth using this product for that texture. I also took help from our guest editors to check this bit.

Effectiveness – You wouldn’t want a hair loss shampoo that does nothing for hair loss, or a anti-dandruff shampoo that is not good at removing dandruff. So I checked these shampoos effectiveness.

Best Smelling Ogx Shampoo

An active life can take a toll on hair health – all that sweat and grime after doing yoga or heading to the gym.

And sometimes, I’ve noticed that dry shampoo just doesn’t do the needful in cleaning my hair. So I tried the OGX Active Beauty Green Tea Fitness shampoo to see how it goes!

It’s mild enough to be used frequently and left my tresses looking and feeling fresh. I liked that there are no sulfates here.

So I could use it 3-4 times a week without worrying about stripping my hair dye.

I also liked the antioxidant-rich, green tea formula as it seemed to soothe my scalp after use. Oh and my favorite bit? I adored the natural, fresh scent it leaves behind.

My one gripe is that the shampoo can be too drying if used frequently. If you’re using it often I suggest pairing it with a very nourishing conditioner.

Who It’s For – Sweaty, post-workout hair

Best Ogx Shampoo For Oily Hair

All those hair care products like masks, sprays, gels, etc. tend to leave behind product residue on my hair that builds up over time.

Pair this with an oily scalp (like mine!), and you have a recipe for disaster. This is where the OGX Purifying + Charcoal Detox shampoo steps in.

I felt that it’s one of the best OGX shampoo if you’re looking for something that deeply cleanses hair.

And it doesn’t use harsh surfactants to do so! It contains charcoal and kaolin clay instead.

If you feel you feel like your hair is getting too oily or too weighed down by all that product build-up, try this OGX charcoal shampoo.

But I wouldn’t recommend it for the dry scalp folks out there.

The shampoo left my hair soft, shiny, and bouncy. And it did this without stripping hair of color. So yay me!

But I do not use it more than 2-3 times a week. And it can have a different effect on your hair if it has a curly texture as it’s more prone to dryness.

Best Ogx Shampoo For Hair Fall

After I had bleached and colored my hair, I noticed I’ve got a few damaged hair strands your main. I got the OGX Restoring + Bonding Plex as it promised to repair chemically-processed hair.

It’s saw the ingredients and noticed that it’s blended with cysteine and vegetable protein. So that was a bonus!

I was also glad to know that there weren’t any sulfates in the formula.

The shampoo is specially formulated for hair that’s been damaged from too much heat, styling, and color treatments.

So it’s not the best choice if you want to increase the vibrancy of hair dye.

But it does leave hair protected, improves the textures of the strands, and increases their moisture retention.

I suggest using this shampoo with the bonding conditioner and hair cream. I often use it on weekends to give my hair a salon-style deep conditioning treatment at home.

Who It’s For – Overly-processed, damaged hair

Best Ogx Shampoo For Scalp Build-up

I used the OGX Green Tea fitness shampoo for several weeks and noticed that while it removes sweat and grease from hair, it doesn’t clarify product build-up.

And I didn’t want to use the Charcoal shampoo too regularly so I tried the OGX Detoxifying + Pomegranate & Ginger shampoo.

I found it clarifying enough to use on my oily hair and it even helped control my (mild) dandruff.

This shampoo is enriched with pomegranate and ginger extracts that help remove even the most stubborn residue from hair. And the scent of the shampoo is really pleasant and fruity too.

I think I liked it better than the Green Tea Fitness shampoo!

While it’s sulfate-free, the formula is very strong and I don’t recommend using it on dry scalps as it can exacerbate the problem.

My Ratings:

Who It’s For – Mild dandruff, scalp build-up

Best Ogx Shampoo For Thin Hair

I got this OGX Thick & Full + Biotin & Collagen shampoo as it promised to make hair thicker and fuller. And boy did it deliver!

I was mostly impressed with the ingredient list that included biotin, hydrolyzed wheat protein, collagen, and vitamin B7.

If I’m being honest I didn’t notice any changes on the first wash, but after 3-4 weeks of use, I could definitely see my hair looking fuller.

The shampoo also claims to repair any damage to your hair. And it did reduce split ends to some extent, it’s not a damage-repair product.

You’ll have to use the Bonding Plex Shampoo for that!

I also loved that the sulfate-free formula let me use the shampoo regularly. So if you’re looking for a daily use product this is it!

If your hair’s too fine, you can use this product before styling with texturizing sprays or mousses. That’s what I do!

Best Ogx Shampoo For Dandruff

Sensitive scalp gang, assemble! This product is just the thing for you if your main hair concerns are dandruff, itchiness, redness, or a mild form of eczema or psoriasis, then the OGX Extra Strength Refreshing Scalp + Tea Tree Mint is your savior.

What I liked most about this shampoo is that it contains ingredients like peppermint oil and tea tree oil, which are known for their anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antibacterial properties.

It’s also enriched with witch hazel, a natural astringent. So if an oily scalp bothers you, this shampoo takes care of that too.

I love how the peppermint formulation also leaves behind a cooling feeling and a pleasant fragrance.

The down side? Well, it isn’t really a great pick for dry scalps. If you have very dry scalp then I suggest getting another OGX shampoo like the Argan Oil or Coconut Milk one.

Best Ogx Shampoo For Dry Hair

I had noticed that due to frequent styling, bleaching, sun exposure, lead to very dry and lifeless hair.

And this exactly where the OGX Renewing + Argan Oil Of Morocco shampoo scores. Its hero ingredient is argan oil, a substance packed with nourishing antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.

I noted that shampoo improves hair elasticity, repairs damage, strengthens the shaft, and reduces dryness and all this with just a few weeks of me using this shampoo.

It contains silk extracts that lock moisture in. But wait there’s more. The shampoo is perfectly safe to use on color-treated hair.

Also, it protects your hair from further damage due to UV rays and heat.

Best Ogx Shampoo For Colored Hair

When we say there is an OGX shampoo for everything, we mean everything.

If you’ve decided to go with a fun blonde hair color, the OGX Hydrate & Color Reviving + Sunflower Shimmering shampoo helps bring out the golden tones on your hair.

The shampoo contains sunflower extracts and honey that nourish hair, protect the vibrancy of hair color, and protect it from fading due to UV ray exposure.

Its natural formula is free of any peroxide or hair dye.

All it does is infuse moisture into hair strands and forms a shield over them, so the sunny tones in your blonde hair look brilliant and shiny.

Who It’s For – Toning blonde hair

Best Ogx Shampoo For Frizzy Hair

Rain and humidity can play spoilsport to well-made plans, but they’re often the culprits behind frizzy hair as well.

If constant frizz is your main hair concern, the OGX Hydrate + Defrizz Kukui Oil is made for you.

It contains nourishing kukui nut oil that infuses moisture into hair strands and smoothes them down. Result? Silky, soft hair that isn’t at the mercy of the weather.

The shampoo shields hair against humidity and increases shine, leaving it looking its glamorous best, every day.

My Ratings:

Who It’s For – Frizzy hair

Best Ogx Shampoo For Keratin Treated Hair

Is having silky, straight hair your goal? Then you need to check out the OGX Ever-Straightening + Brazilian Keratin Therapy shampoo.

It is enriched with keratin protein, coconut oil, avocado oil, and cocoa butter that nourish the scalp and infuse moisture into the hair strands.

They reduce frizz, strengthen the hair cuticle, and add shine.

The best thing about this shampoo is that it leaves your hair straight and silky. As if you’d just got keratin or Brazilian treatment at a salon.

We love how it’s work doesn’t stop there. This OGX shampoo also forms a protective coating on your hair, shielding it from pollution and UV rays.

My Ratings:

Who It’s For – Keratin-treated hair/Frizzy hair

Best Ogx Shampoo For Oily Scalp And Dry Ends

While a nourishing shampoo is often recommended for dry scalps, sometimes, it can leave your hair feeling greasy.

But not the OGX Weightless Hydration + Coconut Water shampoo. It adds hydration to your hair strands without leaving them limp.

Guess that’s why the name says ‘weightless’, huh?

It is formulated with coconut water that contains loads of electrolytes that rejuvenate the hair strands and coconut oil that conditions.

The shampoo leaves hair soft, silky, and hydrated without weighing them down. If you’ve got fine hair, this product is your best bet.

My Ratings:

Who It’s For – Oily hair with dry ends

Best Ogx Shampoo For Curly Hair

Hair feeling extra dry? This OGX Nourishing + Coconut Milk shampoo should do the trick.

It’s formulated with coconut milk, coconut oil, and ultra-whipped egg white proteins. Whew! Talk about a protein shake.

The creamy shampoo softens the texture, adds moisture, and increases the elasticity of your hair.

And if you’re worried about hair fall, the egg white proteins help strengthen the roots and promote hair growth.

As it’s super-hydrating, this shampoo is a good choice for dry scalps too.

My Ratings:

Who It’s For – Dry, damaged hair

Best Ogx Shampoo For Hair Loss

Most damage-repair shampoos also deeply condition the hair. But the catch is, these might not suit oily scalps.

This is where the OGX Healing + Vitamin E steps in. It nourishes dry, damaged hair without leaving it greasy. Its name reveals its magic formula – vitamin E!

This vitamin E shampoo repairs split ends, controls frizz, and undoes the damage caused by heat.

The best thing about this product is that it increases the elasticity of hair, protecting it from further damage.

My Ratings:

Who It’s For – Damaged, frizzy hair

The company OGX was started by Todd Christopher way back in 2003. At that time, this hair care brand was called “Organix”.

However, Christopher began to face litigation over this name. There were concerns that the name Organix was misleading and would lead customers to believe the products were organic, when in fact, they were not!

So in 2013, the name of the brand was changed to OGX.

OGX shampoos have made a name for themselves for their wide range of products which contain exotic ingredients.

There are no sulfates or parabens found in OGX shampoos.

Some shampoos, like the Weightless Hydration + Coconut Water Shampoo do contain Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, a milder form of surfactants.

But this ingredient is nowhere as harsh as Sodium Laureth Sulfate or Sodim Lauryl Sulfate.

OGX has made a name for itself as an affordable, drugstore shampoo. They even have easily distinguishable bottles that have a short, round shape. Most OGX shampoos don’t cost more than $10.

It’s time to show your hair some love and cut out all the chemicals! So many brands, including OGX, have come up with natural, organic products, just because it’s the need of the hour.

If you’re looking to buy shampoo there are certain ingredients you need to steer clear off. These include:

Sulfates: Who hasn’t heard of sulfates yet? If your hair was a movie, sulfates would be the main villain.

But are sulfates really that bad? Well, some are. Mainly Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLES).

These chemicals are called surfactants and are added to cleanse your hair of dirt and oil.

But the catch is that they can be too harsh on the scalp and remove natural oils, along with any debris on your hair. Plus, if you’ve got colored hair, sulfates can strip off hair dye with continued use.

Fragrances: That shampoo you love because of its lush aroma? Yeah, it’s terrible for your hair.

No, this doesn’t mean your shampoo has to smell bad. It means any fragrances in it have to come from natural sources.

If the shampoo is scented from ingredients like flowers, fruit extracts, or essential oils, then that’s a-okay.

The problem arises with artificial scents. These usually contain alcohol that dries out your scalp. So it’s best to avoid them.

Parabens: Parabens are usually added as preservatives to increase the lifespan of your shampoo.

The only problem is that they are quite similar in structure to the natural hormones found in your body.

This could create loads of trouble. And although there isn’t too much data available to back the claims up, you are better off without parabens in your shampoo.

Boy, picking out a shampoo can sure get tricky! And the terminology on the packaging doesn’t help.

Smoothening, hydrating, volumizing, strengthening? Like what is that supposed to mean?

And even if you figure that one out, there’s the question of picking a shampoo that matches your scalp.

Don’t worry there’s an easy way to figure this out. Just remember two things: your scalp type and hair needs.

If your scalp is oily, it’s best to avoid anything labeled moisturizing, nourishing, rich, or “good for curly hair”.

These shampoos are formulated to add moisture to the scalp, which is not such a good idea if it’s already greasy.

Instead, choose shampoos marked volumizing, cleansing, clarifying, or balancing as these usually work to reduce excess oil.

On the flip side, if your scalp is dry, flaky, and itchy, choose the moisturizing and nourishing ones.

Pro tip: If you find your scalp to be sensitive and irritated, try using shampoos with menthol, aloe vera, and tea tree oil.

Another thing to consider before buying a shampoo is what exactly you want it to do. Do you want the shampoo to reduce hair loss? Clean dandruff? Do you want your shampoo to control frizz?

If your top concern is limp or dull hair, then a shampoo labeled volumizing would be right for you.

For brittle, damaged hair, choose ones with keratin or marked as strengthening or damage-repair.

Smoothening shampoos help reduce frizz and are useful if you want silky, straight hair.

And balancing shampoos are made for sensitive scalps and clean without drying hair out.

FAQs – Best OGX Shampoo

Conclusion

And there you have it, the best OGX shampoo list. Take care to pick a product that suits your scalp type, hair concern, and fits into your budget.

OGX also has the matching conditioner for each range. If you want the best results for your tresses, don’t forget to use one.

They’ve got hair masks, serums, and hair sprays and toners to help style your tresses too.

But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. A shampoo is perhaps one of the most important parts of your beauty routine, so don’t take it lightly.

After all, hair care starts in the shower!

OGX was founded by Todd Christopher in 2006 under the name Organix. In 2013, the brand name was changed to OGX after litigation claimed that the name Organix was misleading consumers into believing that the hair care products were organic. (The products were, in fact, not organic.)

Today OGX offers salon-inspired formulas that range from shampoo and conditioner to dry shampoo and styling cream.

They incorporate exotic ingredients into their products and stand out on drugstore shelves with their unique short, rounded bottles.

Their mission is never to sacrifice performance in their quest for sustainability.

You won’t find fragrance-free OGX shampoos since fragrance is a big selling point of OGX products. Most OGX shampoos (and conditioners) are free from sulfated surfactants, and all current OGX products do not contain parabens.

OGX shampoos are formulated at a pH between 4.0-6.5.

While many people have had positive experiences with OGX products (including myself), it’s important to remember that what works well for one person’s hair may not necessarily work well for another.

Some benefits of OGX products include:

However, there are also a few drawbacks:

Is OGX shampoo good for your hair?

Ultimately, whether OGX products are good for your hair depends on your specific hair type, needs, and preferences. It’s always a good idea to read product labels and ingredient lists to ensure they align with your hair care goals.

The Bottom Line: The best OGX shampoo for you will be formulated for your hair type.

Whether you choose to use OGX shampoos paired with their matching conditioners or simply use the shampoos in this list of best OGX shampoos with another conditioner brand, if you choose a shampoo that is formulated for your hair type and hair concerns, you’re more likely to get the results you are looking for.

The nice thing about OGX’s shampoos (and conditioners) is that they are priced so low that you can try multiple shampoos, which increases your chances of finding the shampoo that works best for your hair.

Answer # 3 #

Are you looking for the best OGX shampoo for your particular hair type? OGX is a beauty brand well known for making shampoos with exotic ingredients.

I’ve been on a mission to test out and review every shampoo and conditioner that OGX make, so that I can recommend which ones are best for every hair type. All my reviews are posted here on my beauty blog, and over on my YouTube channel. I hope this post helps you to find the right OGX shampoo for your own hair.

If you’ve been following me on YouTube, you’ll know I have a huge collection of OGX products! In total I’ve tried out over 17 different OGX shampoos over the last two years, so if you need some help choosing a shampoo, you’ve come to the right place!

At the moment OGX is one of my favourite hair brands due to their natural ingredients and luxurious fragrances. I have always found their shampoos gentle and hydrating on my dry hair.

Before getting onto my reviews, I should tell you that my own hair is naturally curly, thin and dry. When I test out shampoos I always try them for at least a month before reviewing them and also consider how they might perform on other hair types such as oily or thick.

I hope this post is helpful to you but as always if you have questions please leave them in the comments.

This post is my list of the best OGX shampoos for every hair type

OGX is owned by Johnson & Johnson who bought the company in 2016. The brand used to be known as Organix but changed their name to OGX in 2013. This was following a lawsuit which accused the company of misleading their customers into thinking their products were entirely organic.

Most OGX shampoos are made with a sulfate-free formula, and all of them are paraben free. They are also pH balanced with pH levels that vary between 4.0-6.5. Shampoos with lower pH levels have been shown to cause less frizzing and negative static electricity on the hair strands (source).

The following list is my recommended best OGX shampoos for every hair type.

See my full review and video of the OGX Teatree Mint Shampoo here.

I recommend the OGX Tea Tree Mint Shampoo as the best shampoo for reducing hair loss and promoting growth since peppermint oil has been proven in clinical trials to increase hair growth.

This shampoo was the most refreshing and cooling shampoo I’ve ever tried! In the bottle it smells like mint chocolate chip but when you start massaging it into your hair the tea tree and witch hazel scents start to come through.

The first thing I noticed was the cooling sensation on my scalp when I applied the Tea Tree Mint shampoo and conditioner. It’s great on a hot day or if you need to unwind. Even when I got out of the shower my scalp felt tingly and refreshed.

The shampoo left my hair scented of mint and did a good job at reducing frizz and adding moisture. For a sulfate free shampoo I was also impressed at how well it lathered!

The photograph below shows what the OGX Tea Tree Mint shampoo and conditioner look like when they come out of the bottle.

The main ingredients in this shampoo are Australian tea tree oil, peppermint oil and witch hazel. Peppermint oil is known to stimulate blood flow to the hair follicles, strengthen the hair root and promote hair growth. If you are worried about hair fall, this shampoo will leave your hair clean and refreshed whilst reducing thinning.

See my full review and video of the OGX Biotin & Collagen shampoo here.

If you have flat hair, the OGX Biotin & Collagen shampoo is excellent for adding volume! It has a very sweet smell that reminded me of sherbet but the scent doesn’t last on the hair.

I found when I started using this product that my hair became stronger, more hydrated and had more volume at the roots. Since my hair is fine and dry, I’m always looking for products to make my hair appear fuller. Out of all the OGX shampoos I’ve tested, this was the best one at giving my hair an extra boost of volume.

See my full review and video of the OGX Charcoal shampoo here.

I found the OGX Charcoal Shampoo a little bit too drying for my hair but I think it would be great if you have greasy hair or suffer from product build up.

The conditioner was not as moisturising as other OGX conditioners I have tried and I found it left my hair looking fluffy and not very glossy.

The photograph below shows what the OGX Charcoal Shampoo and Conditioner look like when they come out of the bottle.

The key ingredients in the OGX Charcoal Detox Shampoo are activated charcoal and kaolin clay They are both excellent for cleansing an oily scalp, and giving the hair and scalp a deep detox. All impurities are absorbed including excess oil and any residue left on the hair from other products. This is one of the best OGX products for oily hair especially if you live in a hard water area as it also removes mineral build up.

I enjoyed using the OGX Orchid Oil shampoo because I liked the floral scent. It was a little bit too drying for my hair but seemed to work well when I used it every other day rather than daily.

Many of my friends are currently colour their hair, and they told me they thought this shampoo did a good job of protecting their colour.

The photograph below shows what the OGX Orchid Oil Shampoo and Conditioner look like when they come out of the bottle.

The OGX Fade-Defying Orchid Oil Shampoo contains Orchid extract and grape seed oil. These ingredients help to protect your hair color from fading, and lock moisture into the hair strands. See my full review and video of the OGX Coconut Milk shampoo here.

Although the OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo is one of the brand’s more popular products, it wasn’t one of my favourites. I felt it did help to moisturise and strengthen my hair, but it wasn’t as good at reducing frizz as other OGX shampoos.

My current favourite OGX shampoo is the Liquid Pearl Shampoo which did a better job at smoothing my hair and increasing shine. I think the Coconut Milk shampoo would be good though if you have very brittle or damaged hair.

The photograph below shows what the OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo and Conditioner look like when they come out of the bottle.

The OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo contains coconut milk, coconut oil and egg white proteins to add strength, elasticity and hydration. You are left with super shine and a subtle scent of coconut. These ingredients are all ideal for high porosity or very damaged hair.

See my full review and video of the OGX Argan Oil shampoo here.

In my opinion, the OGX Argan Oil Shampoo has the best and strongest scent out of all OGX shampoos! It has a luxurious woody fragrance and leaves the hair perfumed for the whole day.

For me this was the best OGX shampoo I tried for making my hair glossy and shiny. It’s not my favourite OGX shampoo but is probably a close second. This is because I found that the OGX Pearl shampoo did a better job at reducing frizz. I would say this is the best shampoo to revive dull hair and make it look glossy and smooth.

The photograph below shows what the OGX Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner look like when they come out of the bottle.

The OGX Argan Oil Sulfate-Free Shampoo contains silk proteins which lock in moisture and Moroccan argan oil which is rich in vitamin E and adds hydration. Vitamin E reduces oxidative stress on the scalp and preserves the protective lipid layer. This shampoo would also be suitable for colored hair or to help to revive brittle and damaged tresses.

See my full review and video of the OGX Liquid Pearl Shampoo here.

The OGX Liquid Pearl shampoo is my absolute favourite OGX shampoo! It did a great job at smoothing my hair and reducing frizz, and left it glossy and manageable. If you’ve got particularly unruly hair I think this would be a great shampoo to try as it was excellent at detangling my hair and making it easier to brush.

The photograph below shows what the OGX Liquid Pearl Shampoo and Conditioner look like when they come out of the bottle.

The main ingredients in this shampoo are pearl extracts and sea kelp. Pearl is rich in nutrients and antioxidants that help to protect the hair from the environment, and sea kelp may help with hair growth. I found the formula in this shampoo to be deeply nourishing and hydrating, and left me with fluid, shiny hair.

See my full review and video of the OGX Keratin Oil shampoo here.

The OGX Keratin Oil shampoo is a great choice if you are trying to grow your hair long! That’s because it contains ingredients that help to strengthen your hair and make it more elastic. I enjoyed using this shampoo as I felt it helped to make my hair shinier and healthier.

This shampoo has a nice exotic fruity scent, and the matching conditioner is creamy and moisturising. I would recommend this shampoo to anyone who didn’t have good results with the OGX Coconut Milk shampoo. That’s because it does a great job of strengthening the hair but doesn’t contain heavy ingredients that could weigh the hair down.

The photograph below shows what the OGX Keratin Oil shampoo and conditioner look like when they come out of the bottle.

The two key ingredients in this shampoo are hydrolysed keratin and Argan oil. Keratin is often found in salon treatments that are designed to strengthen the hair. It helps to smooth over raised hair cuticles and make the hair less likely to break. This was proven in a study from 2013 which demonstrated Keratin’s strengthening effect on hair fibre.

See my full review and video of the OGX Kukui Oil Shampoo here.

This OGX shampoo calms flyaway strands and frizz with kukui nut oil, which is an ancient Hawaiian hair remedy. It contains a humidity resistant formula that leaves hair smooth, shimmering and glossy. Kukui nut oil has also been used for centuries in Hawaii to stimulate hair growth.

This shampoo doesn’t have a particularly strong smell. It has a sweet, nutty scent that smells a bit like a Snickers bar. The fragrance doesn’t last on the hair and is very mild compared with some of the other OGX shampoos, such as the Argan oil shampoo which has a much stronger scent.

The photograph below shows what the OGX Kukui Oil shampoo and conditioner look like when they come out of the bottle.

As well as Kukui oil, this shampo contains rosemary leaf extract. Rosemary has been shown in clinical trials to help stimulate hair growth and reduce hair loss. One study from 2015 showed that rosemary leaf extract was just as effective as Minoxidil for treating hair loss, and even more effective at soothing an itchy scalp.

See my full review and video of the OGX Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo

The OGX Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo is a clarifying shampoo designed for greasy hair. Since I have dry hair I was worried that this product might make my hair dryer, but I found it was actually quite moisturising.

Since apple cider vinegar is good for rebalancing and strengthening the hair, I recommend this shampoo for anyone with greasy hair that has become brittle. If you have dry hair and are starting the Curly Girl Method, this also might be a good shampoo for your final wash.

Both the shampoo and conditioner have a really nice apple scent. I found that the scent also lasts on your hair after you rinse the product out.

The photograph below shows what the OGX Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo and conditioner look like when they come out of the bottle.

The key ingredient in this shampoo is apple cider vinegar. Since apple cider vinegar has a low pH level, it is able to rebalance and strengthen the hair. Your hair is naturally mildly acidic, and apple cider vinegar can bring the hair’s pH level back into balance if it has become too alkaline from chemical treatments like hair dyes.

Although I couldn’t find any scientific studies which showed that apple cider vinegar strengthened the the hair, I did find a study showing that shampoos with a lower pH level (like an apple cider vinegar shampoo) generate less negative static electricity on the hair. This means less frizz and dryness.
