Answer # 1 #

Joro uses a fake persona in an effort to be a romantic comedy protagonist. Cosmos and Himawari confess to him that they like his friend, Sun. Joro tries to help both of them, hoping to end up with the one Sun rejects. Pansy confesses to Joro and blackmails him to visit the library every day. Joro learns that Sun likes Pansy but refuses to help them get together. Sun, Cosmos and Himawari find Joro and Pansy in the library where Joro is made out to be the villain, and is ostracised by the student body. Joro learns that Sun had manipulated events as revenge on Joro. Sun apologizes to the school. Pansy reveals her true appearance to Joro, who decides to continue visiting the library.

Joro gets closer to Pansy, Joro makes up with Sun, Himawari and Cosmos. Asunaro accuses Joro of three-timing and threatens to release an article to the school newspaper. Asunaro follows Joro around for Newspaper Club purposes. Joro, Himawari, Cosmos and Kimie are chosen to participate in the Kabuten dance for the Hundred Flower Festival. Kamata refuses to participate in the Kabuten dance. Sun volunteers as the fourth dancer. They practice the Kabuten dance in the library. Cosmos cancels the Kabuten practices because Asunaro continues to follow Joro. Joro practices in his own time. On the day of the festival Sun cannot participate in the Kabuten. Cosmos rejects Asunaro as the fourth dancer. Cosmos reveals that Asunaro had been manipulating events to get closer to Joro. Joro rejects Asunaro's confession. Pansy participates in the Kabuten as the fourth dancer.

Tsubaki joins the class as a transfer student. She recognizes Joro and kisses his hand. Joro remembers Tsubaki as the shopkeeper of Cheerful Skewers, the place he bought the deep fried pork skewers for Sun at the baseball tournament last year. Pansy lends Joro her favorite book but he ruins it. Cherry and Tsukimi help him. Joro startes working at Cheerful Skewers to make money to buy a new copy of Pansy's book. Pansy does not approve because his motive is self-satisfaction and they have a fight. Hose helps Joro with his problem. Himawari buys the book before Joro can, and he gets angry. Joro realizes that his inferiority complex is bad. Tsubaki reveals that her plan the whole time was to help Joro accept his role as the main character instead of being a background character.

Tampopo wants Pansy and Sun to be together. Joro and Asunaro help her. Her plan fails and Pansy still loves Joro. Can hardly be considered an arc. Basically just a way to introduce us to Toshobu High School and hint at Pansy's past.

Meet students from Toshobu High School.

They go to a festival. Joro's sister, Jasmine, moves home.

Cherry and Sazanka have stalkers.

Meet Anemone.

Hiragi transfers into the class.

Meet Primula and help her with problems.

Hina Hanetachi Biographical Info Alias Asunaro Gender Female Birthday March 3 (Pisces) Eye Color Blue Height 157cm Professional Info Occupation Student Affiliation Newspaper Club Media Info Voiced by Shiori Mikami Hina Hanetachi (羽立 桧菜 Hanetachi Hina), also known by her nickname Asunaro (翌桧), is a character in Oresuki. She is a second year student in High School and a member of the school Newspaper Club who is in love with Amatsuyu Kisaragi.

Asunaro is a slim girl of average height with long dark blue hair tied into a ponytail with bangs hanging on either side while there is a small hair strand in the middle and light blue eyes.

She is often carrying a notepad and pen.

Asunaro is a cheerful and energetic girl who is kind and helpful. As part of the Newspaper Club, she is often running around gathering information for her articles.

Asuanaro loves Joro that she has tried to get closer to him, but rarely finds the opportunity to because he is often with Himawari or Cosmos, which drives her to become jealous of them. After the climax of the First Arc, Joro no longer spent time with Himawari and Cosmos, but before Asunaro could make a move, she saw Joro with Pansy. This causes her to see Pansy as her main rival. She decides it is impossible for her to grow to be the closest to Joro, so she formulates a plan to push the others away from him.[1]

Asunaro is very manipulative and good with words. She effortlessly blackmailed Joro by threatening to release a false article about him.[2] She was also able to send an anonymous message to several people, worded in such a way that discouraged them all from participating in the Kabuten dance, and even poisoned Sun,[3] all so that she would be able to dance with Joro.

Asunaro was briefly seen outside the library window during Pansy and Joro's encounter.

Asunaro comes up to Joro in the classroom and asks him which girls he thinks will be nominated for the Kabuten dance event in the Hundred Flower Festival. Joro is not enthusiastic about the festival, but Asunaro is very excited. Joro teases her, and she accidentally reveals her Tsugaru dialect. Joro answers her question by referencing 'a person struggling with studying', meaning Himawari, but Sun is also struggling, so Asunaro teases Joro back by pretending to assume he meant Sun.

Himawari exclaims that she needs help with studying, and Joro is about to help her, but Asunaro gets to her first. Joro offers to help, but Himawari gets scared and runs away

Asunaro helps Himawari and Cosmos pass out a special edition of the school newspaper to clear Joro's reputation.

Asunaro runs into Joro and Pansy after school. It is rainy, and Asunaro notices that Joro does not have an umbrella. She takes a spare umbrella from her bag and offers it to Joro, but Joro declines, opting to share Pansy's umbrella.

Some days later, Asunaro approaches Joro at school for his input on a questionnaire for her article. She asks him about his confidence for the upcoming exams, to which he replies that he is at least confident he will not need supplementary lessons. Asunaro reveals that there is only one student who is not confident in their studies, Himawari. Asunaro and Joro approach Himawari in the classroom and she offers to help her study. Asunaro tells Joro that there is actually another student not confident about the exams, Sun, and she asks him to help him study. Joro tries to approach Sun in his classroom but another student offers to help him study before Joro could get to him.

Some days later, Asunaro approaches Joro to ask him about what his class will be doing for the Hundred Flowers Festival and also briefly discuss the Flower Dance, or Kabuten, event. Asunaro also points out that Cosmos has been watching Joro from around the corner, and he runs over to confront her.

Some days later in class, Joro and the rest of his class received their test results. Asunaro peeks at his score from behind and remarks that it is a good score. She then suddenly tells Joro she likes him and to meet her on the roof. Later, on the roof, Asunaro has Joro sit next to her on a bench, where she tells him he is a low-life and an enemy of all women. She claims to have evidence of Joro three-timing with Himawari, Cosmos and Pansy, showing him photographs of him with each of the girls. Asunaro decides she must observe Joro throughout his day for a while, blackmailing him by threatening to release an article accusing him of three-timing into the school newspaper.

Cosmos reveals to Joro that he has been chosen to participate in the Kabuten event, along with herself, Himawari and Kamata, the manager of the baseball team. Asunaro makes notes about this 'interesting development'. Joro tries to decline the role to avoid Asunaro getting mileage from his dancing with three girls at once, but this causes Cosmos to take his shoulders and plead with him, which Asunaro makes a note of. Joro decides to go ahead with the Kabuten so Cosmos wouldn't be upset. Cosmos also mentions that the Kabuten dance has a tradition where the boy will end up becoming a couple with one of the three girls. Himawari hugs Joro from behind, to which Asunaro comments about Joro's lack of sincerity.

Asunaro does not watch Joro during the time he is in the library.

Asunaro continues to follow Joro around. They run into Cosmos who speaks to them like a samurai. Cosmos and Joro emphasize to Asunaro that their relationship is no more than junior and senior. Cosmos then points out Kamata, who had declined her role in the Kabuten dance, and instructs Joro to try to convince her to reconsider. As Joro tries to talk with Kamata, she completely refuses to participate in the Kabuten because she doesn't want to be compared to Cosmos and Himawari in terms of appearance, and also because she thought Joro is a bad person.

Information Gathering - Asunaro is adept at scouting potential scoops for the school newspaper, even among the other Newspaper Club members.[4] She is able to gather information on virtually anyone within the school.

Manipulation - Asunaro is able to use her natural charisma to orchestrate events for her own purposes. She is also able to use her status as a Newspaper Club member to sway public opinion, even if it isn't true, to such an extent that even Cosmos, the Student Council President, couldn't convince them otherwise.[5]

GLASS BLOWER LABORATORY APPARATUS
Answer # 4 #

Where were you when ORESUKI's staff announced that there would be no real finale and fans of the show found out that the only way to get the real ending is to wait for an OAV release slated for early summer? I think I had just finished eating Christmas brunch and was on my second mimosa. So before we get into the highs and lows of this pseudo-finale, I might as well get it out of the way that this is not the ending to ORESUKI and hopefully one of the three streaming services gets a hold of the OAV rights so we can view it. Otherwise this is a sour note to leave the series on.

We last left Jōro and co. as they teamed up with Hose, Cherry, and Tsukimi to revitalize the school library. The plan was a smashing success, mostly because Hose attracts plenty of female attention and (for reasons unexplained) the trio can just hang around another high school's library during school hours. Are they skipping their classes to be here and hover around Pansy? Who knows but the girl is at her wits end trying to remain polite around a guy she really wishes would just get lost. I thought this aspect of Pansy and Hose's relationship more after some of the viewers in the comments seemed confused about what the big deal was with Pansy and her aversion to Hose. This episode makes it more clear that issue is decorum.

Pansy doesn't want to date Hose. There's nothing wrong with him as a person, personality or looks wise. She just isn't interested in this perfect dude and feels pressured by Cherry and Tsukimi to consider him even though she also knows that they like him romantically. Pansy feels obligated to tolerate Hose even though she has no intention of returning his feelings simply because it would be rude to tell him to take a hike. Now, I still think there exists a very viable option of outright telling him she won't date him but it seems like it's not just that, Pansy doesn't even want to be friends with him. Yet, she feels like she'd have to be an asshole to both crush a nice guy like Hose's heart and tell him to just, like, go away? Fortunately, such an asshole does exist in the world of ORESUKI and he's willing to take it on the chin if it means that Hose goes back to whatever school he came from and quits putting Pansy in an awkward social situation.

ORESUKI being ORESUKI, Jōro doesn't know that he's the right man for the job yet. First he has to be goaded by Sun-chan and Pansy. While Jōro was treading water for a week while Hose hung around the library, Pansy and Sun-chan decided to create their own scenario that might get Hose to take off. Pansy agrees to date Sun-chan in the event that his baseball team goes to Nationals and wins (thus recreating the infamous match that brought the characters together). At first Jōro thinks this is absolutely serious and it doesn't seem like it's outside Sun-chan's nature to play the long con in order to be with Pansy. Pansy even plays along to get Jōro to leave the library for an extended period so he can go sulk. It takes a summer vacation of brooding and a few key conversations with Sasanqua and Tsubaki before he realizes Sun-chan and Pansy were talking in code, more or less.

They wanted to divert Hose's attention off of Jōro since Hose will "never give up" on Pansy. Pansy had previously indicated to Jōro that she was going to come up with something to get rid of Hose herself and Sun-chan's conversations with Jōro were mostly to get him to realize his own romantic feelings for Pansy. Jōro "confesses" to Sun-chan in one of the more emotional moments in the show and decides that he'll fully embrace his true nature, thorns and all, to get rid of Hose. His idea is a popularity challenge that Jōro believes is 100% in his favor. Cosmos, Himawari, and Asunaro just have to vote for him over Hose and he'll be long gone. But this is ORESUKI and a long-running theme has been pursuing one's own happiness versus doing the "honorable" thing and simply supporting who you love. Well, Cosmos, Himawari, and Asunaro all have their own romantic feelings for Jōro that they make known, then and there, and decide to vote for Hose since Jōro would no longer be able to interact with Pansy, thus increasing their own odds of being with him. This will probably be divisive but it's totally in line with ORESUKI's approach to romance and at odds with the typical romcom anime approach. So on one hand, I applaud the girls choosing not to suffer in silence and instead be forthright. On the other hand, can't we ban Hose from the library, too? Cosmos, Himawari, and Asunaro don't like how he makes Pansy feel.

That's where the show closes out though. In the midst of this vote. I can make what I think are some reasonable assumptions based on where the pieces are but we won't have a proper conclusion until roughly July. Here are my reasonable predictions:

Then again, this is ORESUKI and there could be more twists thrown in there. Looking back, the series' dedication to twists and turns was a double-edged sword. It kept the overall series engaging, separating it from its more by-the-books brethren but it often got caught up in its fast pace and for a time, its larger than necessary cast. Sun-chan's double-cross barely had room to breathe before the quota was reset again and his and Pansy's plot revealed. I wouldn't have minded a more involved episode as Jōro came to terms with his feelings for Pansy and what that meant about his friendship with Sun-chan. ORESUKI did its reveals best in the earlier arcs; by the end problems, motivations, and resolutions were squeezed into singular episodes and they lost a lot of "shock" that you want with major character revelation.

Overall, I really enjoyed the show for the reason I least expected: Jōro grows on you like a fungus. He started out the series as a classic PoS who spent too much time reading pick-up artist playbooks. By the series' end he's wrestled with his own feelings of inadequacy and what it means to be true to himself while also being considerate of his friends. He is by no means a perfect protagonist, but that's the point. Guys like Hose don't really exist and if they did, they'd be impossible to be around for us average people.

I can't believe we have to wait until July though, I'm so mad.
