Why combustion reaction is an oxidation reaction?

This is a good question. I try to explain simple.
Oxidation is when a substance reacts with oxygen. Or, more scientific, it loses electrons. In combustion, like a fire, you have a fuel. Wood or gas, for example. This fuel must have oxygen to burn. The fuel reacts very fast with the oxygen from the air. The fuel is what gets oxidized. It gives its electrons to the oxygen. So, because the fuel is always oxidized by oxygen, combustion is a type of oxidation reaction. It is just a very fast and hot one
