Why did the poet put that thought away?

The thought was very painful for the poet. She looked at her mother and felt a big fear. The fear of losing her mother is very strong. So, to stop this sad feeling, she looked outside the car. She saw young trees and happy children. This is life and energy. It is the opposite of her sad thought about her mother. It was a way to escape the pain for just a moment.
