Why do magnetic field lines never intersect?
2 answer(s)
Answer # 1 #
If magnetic field lines intersected, it would mean that at the same point there are two different directions of the magnetic field, which is impossible. Hence, they never cross each other.
Answer # 2 #
The concept is based on physics law: each point in space can have only one magnetic field direction. So by definition, field lines are drawn to never intersect. You can read more here: Physics Classroom - Magnetic Field Lines.
