Are government jobs after 12th in India permanent or contractual in 2025?

Earlier almost all government jobs were permanent. Now government also introduces contractual jobs. Example: contractual staff in health departments, data entry operators, etc. But big exams like SSC and Railways are still permanent jobs with pension and allowances.

It depends on the recruitment. If it is through SSC, RRB, or state PSC, then it is permanent. If it is contractual outsourcing, then it’s not. As a candidate, always check if the recruitment is regular or temporary.

Most government jobs after 12th are permanent, like SSC CHSL, Railways, Post Office, State Police. But some schemes like Agniveer in Army/Navy/Airforce are contractual for 4 years. You should read the notification carefully before applying.
