How do I type the Indian Rupee (₹) symbol using a standard keyboard? Is there a specific Alt code keyboard shortcut or do I need to change my language settings?

On Mac: just press Option + 4 and the ₹ symbol appears.
For Linux users, you might need to add the Indian keyboard layout in settings, then it usually works with AltGr + 4.
Honestly, the Alt code trick on Windows is fastest if you type it occasionally.

On Windows, the simplest way is:
- Press Alt + 8377 on the numeric keypad (make sure Num Lock is on). That inserts ₹ anywhere.
- Alternatively, on Windows 10/11, press Win + . (period) to open the emoji panel, and you’ll find ₹ under the currency section.
No need to change keyboard language unless you want ₹ directly on a key.
