How do you deal with a friend who constantly complains?

I listen for some time, but then I try to change topic. If they complain always, I tell them honestly: “I want to support you, but this is too much for me.” Sometimes setting limits is necessary.

For me, humor works. When my friend complains too much, I joke: “Do you have any happy stories today?” It makes them laugh and stop for a while.
