Anyone who wants to study for a first degree in the UK must apply through the UK's UCAS service. UK residents, residents of the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, citizens of the European Union and other international claims are all covered by this. A list of up to five courses for which applicants are applying is included in the single application submitted by applicants.

The student must apply by January of the following year.

There are only four opportunities for applications for medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine, and the other can be used to apply for different courses. Route B Art and Design courses only have a maximum of three courses that applicants can choose from, and they have until March to apply for a time permit to complete their portfolios.

The conditions of each university are taken into account when applying for a job.

The "Clearing" service is available for students who have not been accepted in any of their options. The process allows students without a place to apply for courses with vacancies by using the UCAS search tool and contacting each university or college in question to obtain a place.

The merger of the University Central Council on Admissions, PCAS, and the Standing Conference on University Entrance formed the new organization. The organization is located in the UK.

Two high-profile incidents have been involved in the past. The personal database of applicants was accidentally made public in 2001 by UCAS. Errors and omissions in the data provided by the Scottish Qualifications Authority resulted in reporting to universities and students that they achieved higher qualifications than they actually did.

Previously applicants could choose between the two options, but in 2004 they decided to accept paper applications in favor of the entry line.

The "Adjustment" was an optional process for students whose results were better than expected, but it is no longer available.

The introduction of UKPASS in 2007, which is still in its infancy with a number of providers trying to join, was the start of the postgraduate education field.

The GTTR is a postgraduate center that provides initial teacher training for graduates.

The list of UK HEIs that aren't part of UCAS is incomplete.
