We shared everything we know about All of Us Are Dead season 2 below. This report was originally published in 2022, and we’re continuing to add new information when we learn it. FanSided Entertainment’s Crystal George and Bryce Olin contributed to this report.

All of Us Are Dead is a K-Drama directed by Lee Jae-kyoo and Kim Nam-su from scripts written by Chun Sung-il. It’s based on the Naver webtoon of the same name by Joo Dong-geun and is jointly produced by Film Monster (JTBC Studios) and Kim Jong-hak Production.

After a failed science experiment by Hyosan High science teacher Lee Byeong-chan, a mysterious virus that turns humans into zombies begins to spread across the school as well as the entire city. The authorities declare a state of emergency and place the city under lockdown. Meanwhile, a group of students trapped in Hyosan High must band together to survive the zombie outbreak as they await to be rescued.

Yoon Chan-young, Park Ji-hu, Cho Yi-hyun, Park Solomon (Lomon), Yoo In-soo, Lee Yoo-mi, Kim Byung-chul, Jeon Bae-soo, Lee Kyu-hyung, Im Jae-hyeok, Ha Seung-ri, Lee Eun-saem, and many others star in the first season.

Now without further ado, here’s everything we know so far about All of Us Are Dead season 2!

We shared the latest news about All of Us Are Dead season 2 below:

It took a little over four months for Netflix to finally announce some good news about All of Us Are Dead‘s future. On June 6, 2022 at Netflix Geeked Week 2022, the streaming giant released a video featuring some of the cast, such as Yoon Chan-young, Park Ji-hu, Lomon, and Cho Yi-hyun. In the video, the cast revealed that an All of Us Are Dead season 2 was officially happening.

Check out the exciting video below!

Initially, we reported that production on the second season could’ve possibly started in September 2022, but it looks like this is untrue. According to an interview All of Us Are Dead star Park Ji-hu did with Teen Vogue in March 2023, the cast and crew have not started filming the second season.

The cast and crew were first spotted shooting the second season in September 2022, according to photos shared on Twitter. However, it’s unclear if production actually started in September. It sounds like these images might not be real.

In October 2022, a fan shared a TikTok video of what looks to be the cast and crew filming. In the video, you can see people acting like zombies while others run away. However, it’s important to mention that Netflix nor the creative team behind the show have announced that filming has started. These photos and videos could be from another project.

Once we find out the production schedule, we’ll let you know.

Unfortunately, no, we don’t know the All of Us Are Dead season 2 release date yet. And when the new season will arrive is not exactly clear. There were rumors that production started in 2022. If that happened, we could definitely expect to see All of Us Are Dead season 2 in late 2023. That’s the best-case scenario.

The worst-case scenario, and likely the one that makes the most sense since it’s been reported by an actual outlet (Teen Vogue) and not just fans online, is that All of Us Are Dead season 2 has not started production yet.

If production hasn’t started, we’re going to be waiting until 2024 until the new season is released.

For now, we’re anticipating that the new season will be released in early 2024. We’ll update that prediction when we find out more information about the hit series.

Release Prediction: Early 2024

After the deputy commander decides to bomb the entire city of Hyosan to hopefully get rid of the infected, Cheong-san and the remaining survivors race to find a safe haven. Unfortunately, Gwi-nam shows up and bites Cheong-san in the arm. This means he will eventually turn into a zombie or a halfbie. Cheong-san then decides to sacrifice himself to save his friends. While the remaining survivors run away, Cheong-san and Gwi-nam get into one final battle that ends with them falling down an elevator shaft and being engulfed by flames.

The remaining students make their way to the evacuated city of Yangdong and have to fight off a horde of zombies. The attack ends with one casualty, Wu-jin. Meanwhile, Nam-ra is having a hard time fighting off her bloodlust, so she distances herself from the group to protect them. After leaving Yangdong city, the six remaining survivors (On-jo, Su-hyeok, Hyo-ryeong, Dae-su, Ha-ri, and Mi-jin) run into the authorities and are finally rescued and brought to a quarantine camp.

Then, we flash forward to four months later. The quarantine camp is less strict, and On-Jo is able to sneak out at night to leave gifts at the memorial right outside the camp. But one night, she notices a campfire lit on the rooftop of Hyosan High. So, she and the other students decide to investigate it. Surprisingly, they find Nam-ra on the rooftop and try to get her to go back with them to the camp. But Nam-ra tells them she can’t because more halfbies like her are roaming around.

Then, Nam-ra looks around before saying, “They’re back.” She doesn’t specify who “they” are, but I think it’s safe to say she’s talking about other halfbies. She tells her friends she’ll be back and then jumps off the rooftop. On-Jo and Co walk to the edge of the rooftop and look down. They all appear to be shocked by what they see. Then, it cuts to the credits.

Before All of Us Are Dead was renewed for a second season, director Lee Jae-kyoo said in an interview with The Korea Herald that he created the zombie series with a second season in mind. He said, “If the first season can be seen as having presented humanity‘s survival, the next season can talk about the survival of zombies.”

A season 2 plot about the survival of zombies would make sense, given that the first season ends with Nam-ra revealing that there are more zombie-human hybrids like her still roaming around. Who knows, there might be regular zombies roaming around as well. If the military finds out about there still being zombies right outside the camp, they’ll most likely try to kill them. And if they find a zombie-human hybrid, they might run experiments to try to figure out a way to kill them. So, Nam-ra and her new halfbie friends would have to focus on surviving in the second season.

Also, the military captured the creator of the virus Lee Byeong-chan’s infected wife and son, and instead of killing them, they decided to use them for unknown reasons. Could they be running tests to find a cure, or are they using them for something else entirely? All of this can be explored in a second season.

Sadly, Netflix hasn’t confirmed who will return in All of Us Are Dead season 2. But we have an idea of who could come back. Of course, the six remaining students On-jo (Park Ji-hu), Su-hyeok (Lomon), Hyo-ryeong (Kim Bo-yoon), Dae-su (Im Jae-hyuk), Ha-ri (Ha Seung-ri), and Mi-jin (Lee Eun-saem) will likely be in the second season.

Cho Yi-hyun, who plays Nam-ra, will most likely return as well. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that Cheong-san (Yoon Chan-young) somehow survived the bombing and will show up in the second season too. But if Cheong-san survived the bombing, season 1 villain Gwi-nam (Yoo In-soo) probably did too which means he could also appear in the second season.

But besides the returning cast members, we can probably expect some new cast additions. We’ll share the official season 2 cast list once Netflix releases it.

The total episode count for season 2 is unknown at the moment. However, we’re probably looking at another 12 episodes. Each episode will probably be at least 50 minutes long, if not longer. We’ll share the official episode count once we find out.

We don’t know the age rating for the second season just yet, but it will most likely be rated TV-MA like the first season. It’s not often that Netflix shows age ratings are changed.

All of Us Are Dead finale spoilers follow.

With a title like All of Us Are Dead, you'd think South Korea's Netflix hit would arrive at a definitive ending. But like the zombies themselves, there's plenty of scope for life after this show's so-called end, thanks to some final threads that season two could easily pull on.

Good thing too as All of Us Are Dead has been green-lit for a second season, so get ready for more zombies tearing it up, and by 'it' we of course mean human flesh.

The news was announced over Instagram on the Netflix South Korea account with a post of a season-two poster captioned "Can we survive again? The second story of Hyosan High School friends' fierce zombie survival period begins. #AllofUsAreDead #Netflix."

Delighted as fans will no doubt be with the knowledge of a season two in the works, it's almost impossible to conceive of another season topping the first.

As you should know if you've watched at least a few episodes, All of Us Are Dead follows some high-school students (and others) who already had enough on their plates even before a zombie virus hit. Hyosan High School is a bloodbath in every sense, which means our survivors are somewhat equipped to deal with the horrors that await them.

But, of course, not everyone makes it out alive. (Almost) All of Us Are Dead, after all, so that shouldn't come as too much of a surprise.

In episode 12, the season-one finale, our beloved students defend themselves against the zombies one last time, in Yangdong, close to their hometown of Hyosan. Unfortunately, another student is killed – and so close to the end too! This time it's Woo-jin (Son Sang-yeon), the brother of archer Ha-ri (Ha Seung-ri).

After that, Nam-ra (Cho Yi-hyun) decides to abandon the group. She'll be fine though, because unlike the others, Nam-ra has been infected with a strange variant of the virus that has transformed her into some kind of zombie/human hybrid. Basically, she still wants to eat people, but there's enough humanity left inside to help her hold back.

Still, Nam-ra is worried that the hunger will overtake her. These survivors are essentially a buffet to her, after all, so the adorable hybrid decides to leave her friends behind after nearly biting On-jo (Park Ji-hu). And with that, the group keeps going, only to be arrested by the military, who interrogate and quarantine them (because that's all the military are ever good for in a zombie apocalypse).

All of Us Are Dead then staggers four months ahead with a news report that reveals things are slowly getting back to normal. Martial law in the Hyosan region is relaxing a bit and the quarantine camp is less strict when it comes to enforcing the rules.

Because of this, On-jo is free to sneak out each night and leave gifts at a memorial that's been made to commemorate all of the students who died in the outbreak – all your faves who didn't make it out alive.

One night, On-jo spots a campfire lit on the ruins of Hyosan High School and tells Su-hyeok (Park Solomon) about what she saw. Together, they decide to investigate, and it's not long before the others join them, including: Ha-ri, Dae-su (Im Jae-hyuk), Mi-jin (Lee Eun-saem), and Hyo-ryung (Kim Bo-yoon).

Upon arriving at the bombed-out remains of their old school, the gang are reunited with Nam-ra who actually seems to be pretty happy for someone living a hybrid zombie existence alone in the wilderness. And that's because she isn't alone at all.

"There are a few more like me," Nam-ra reveals. But what does she mean by that? Well, at one point, Nam-ra describes herself as "neither a human nor a monster", so the implication is that there are other hybrids like herself. Although that doesn't mean some regular zombies aren't out there too...

Then, just as Nam-ra and On-jo start to reconnect, Nam-ra hears a suspicious noise. "They're back," she says. And with that, everyone's favourite hybrid jumps off the roof, leaving her friends behind to wonder where she's gone. Will Nam-ra return? And if so, will she still be a friend or something else entirely?

Military reports reveal that out of the 170,000 residents who lived in Hyosan prior to this outbreak, 110,000 people make it out alive. That's not bad for an apocalypse! Although, 60,000 casualties did occur during the bombing of Hyosan...

That amount of loss alone will radically change the lives of these survivors moving forward. And, of course, we also know that the Jonas Virus is still kicking around.

Earlier on in this final episode, the creator's infected son and wife are snatched away by the military for reasons unknown. Let's just hope they're looking for a cure and not ways to exploit the virus as a weapon.

Either way, Nam-ra still carries the virus, as do the rest of the infected people she alludes to.

Whether the regular zombies return or not, a second season still has plenty to contend with — from the mass loss of the initial outbreak and the dangers that the military might pose to that whole mystery surrounding Nam-ra's true nature. Is she really one of the good guys, or is she secretly plotting an uprising for her and the other hybrids?

While there's still some scope for another outbreak that mirrors what's come before, these plot threads suggest All of Us Are Dead could return as a very different beast — one that takes a new approach to the social commentary that drives so much of season one.

"The origin of zombie virus was introduced in the series as an attempt to highlight the people who take responsibility and those who do not when an event, such as school violence, occurs. Though it is another zombie action-thriller, I thought the series provides the viewers with a chance to think about what kind of people they are," director Lee Jae-kyoo said (via The Korea Herald).

So, season one explores 'what kind of people' they are. It sounds like season two could examine 'what kind of brain-munchers' they are.

"If the first season can be seen as having presented humanity's survival, the next season can talk about the survival of zombies," Lee Jae-kyoo noted.

It's an intriguing angle, one that's relatively original for a zombie show. We rarely get the opportunity to follow an undead apocalypse narrative purely from the undead perspective.

But even if everyone who's left does end up 'dead', that doesn't mean the show itself has to end. Future seasons could also approach this same initial outbreak from different perspectives, revealing the true ramifications of this Jonas Virus on Korea at large.

Joo Dong-geun's original webtoon ends rather differently. There, Nam-ra finds solace with her friends instead of her fellow hybrids, which is a big twist on what we've seen play out within the show.

However, one aspect of the source material that could still come true on screen is the tease that this virus has now spread to Japan. While this means season two could potentially end up moving overseas, that seems unlikely given that All of Us Are Dead is a South Korean production. Instead, we imagine that this global spread of the virus would be hinted at via news reports or even the introduction of new, non-Korean characters.

Lee Jae-kyoo is keen to explore a second season, too. Speaking to The Korea Herald, he explained that he had "intentionally" made room for a possible second season.

"Many directions, settings and scenes were intentionally produced to expand the story into an additional season, including the introduction of the new races of zombies. I hope to present viewers with another season," he added.

The new race of zombies can stop themselves from killing up to a point. They're still zombies, just zombies who are better at managing their urges. This sets up an interesting area to explore in season two. The science teacher who created the virus explained that a vaccine isn't possible — but is that really true? If these variants exist, could they provide the key to a cure? How happy would they be about being experimented on?

Exploring Nam-ra's journey in this context could be a compelling way to open up the world for a second season. Plus, it ties in with Lee's aim to focus on the zombies' survival in a possible second season.

Of course, an official renewal hasn't arrived just yet, and K-dramas tend to only run for one or two seasons. But we wouldn't be surprised if this one bucks that trend. Like Squid Game before it, All of Us Are Dead has topped Netflix TV charts worldwide, including a record-breaking run in the US, so the demand for season two is certainly there.

Whatever happens next, it seems that all of us are dead excited to see what the future holds for Chun Sung-il's horrific zombie story.

All of Us Are Dead spoilers follow.

Netflix is on a roll right now with its K-drama content. Over the past year alone, the streaming service has opened up a whole new world of Korean content with creepy dramas, life-or-death situations in Squid Game and apocalyptic demon-creatures in Hellbound.

Now it's time for a zombie series to grab your attention and feast on your brain with South Korean horror series All of Us Are Dead, which puts a brutal high-school twist on the genre.

Like all of the aforementioned shows, All of Us Are Dead is as addictive as it is well made, so we're sure you must all be chomping at the bit (pun definitely intended) for new episodes. Good job you came to the right place then, isn't it?

All of Us are Dead director Lee Jae-kyoo said in an interview with The Korea Herald that he'd "intentionally" made room in the show for a potential second season:

"Many directions, settings and scenes were intentionally produced to expand the story into an additional season, including the introduction of the new races of zombies," said Lee, referring to the hybrid zombies we see in the show's second half.

"If the first season can be seen as having presented humanity's survival, the next season can talk about the survival of zombies."

So now that a second season is on the horizon, it's time to grab some school supplies, wrack our brains and tear through all of the latest news on this bloodthirsty masterpiece.

(We can't promise we'll be stopping with the zombie puns. You've been warned.)

Good news, folks – All of Us Are Dead has officially been renewed for season two!

Netflix Korea announced the news by posting a season-two poster and a video to their Instagram page with the caption: "Can we survive again? The second story of Hyosan High School friends’ fierce zombie survival period begins. #AllofUsAreDead #Netflix."

In another video posted on YouTube, Yoon Chan-young began: "Hello everyone, it's been a while. Thank you to the Netflix fans worldwide for giving so much love to All of Us Are Dead season one."

After passing the camera on to his cast- and class-mates, the announcement continued: "How have you all been? We're doing well, and did you hear the good news? All of Us Are Dead is returning for season two! We hope you're all excited for it.

"What sort of events will take place in All of Us Are Dead season two? Oh, I have to go, my friends are waiting for me."

It's obvious this show won't die easily. K-dramas have previously had a tendency to only run for one season, but then Squid Game became a worldwide phenomenon, getting a season two, and suddenly all bets are off.

If the stats from All of Us Are Dead is anything to go by, then it's not too surprising it got renewed for another round. Shooting straight into the top 10 overall most-watched shows in two dozen countries, it managed to maintain its position for at least three weeks before dropping out. According to FlixPatrol, Japan's audience sunk their teeth into the show the most, with a 33-day streak.

Although the show's voracious fans finally inspired a season two renewal, it's unlikely we'll see the new episodes until at least late-2023, presuming filming hasn't secretly commenced. This takes into account the filming of the show, and then the all important post-production and special effects.

However, buried in this interview with Park Ji-hu over at Teen Vogue is the revelation that the series has yet to start filming at the time of writing. The article went live in March, 2023 - so there’s a chance we might not see new episodes until early 2024.

Whenever it starts shooting, we hope that Park gets the chance to kick zombie butt in the second season – a wish she expresses in the same interview.

This one, we're going to be honest, is more than a little bit tricky, considering (as the title suggests) not THAT many of the OG cast actually made it out to breathe another day.

But there are a couple of survivors, so it's likely to see them back in action. This includes On-jo (Park Ji-hu), Su-hyeok (Park Solomon), Dae-su (Im Jae-hyuk), Ha-ri (Ha Seung-ri), Mi-jin (Lee Eun-saem), and Hyo-ryung (Kim Bo-yoon).

It's also pretty much confirmed that Cheong-san will be back considering Yoon Chan-young's appearance in the announcement video.

Fans were heartbroken by his heroic sacrifice in episode 11, but now that we know he'll be back in season two, we'll have to wait and see what circumstances he'll be appearing under. Alive? Dead? Flashbacks?

When speaking to Soompi about the fate of his character, Yoon explained: "I was actually asked about whether Cheong San died or not in another interview recently. To be honest, I don’t know. I haven’t heard about what happens next, and nothing has been decided yet. Personally, I’d like to live. I’d like to be able to say things that I didn’t get to say."

Out of everyone, one character who we can definitely assume will return is Choi Nam-ra, played by Cho Yi-hyun.

Either way, expect to see a lot of fresh, blood-splattered faces in All of Us Are Dead season two.

All of Us Are Dead ended with almost everyone dead. Following the initial outbreak, the city of Hyosan was quickly overrun by the zombie menace, and then in turn, most of the undead were destroyed by the Korean military's bombing.

While most of the survivors had their stories wrapped up, it's entirely possible that the outbreak could still resurface. All it would take is one zombie to ruin everything all over again.

And then there's Nam-ra, who somehow managed to retain her humanity even after the infection ravaged her body. It turns out that she's just one of many hybrids who are able to use the virus to their advantage, becoming extra strong and resistant to pain. The problem is that the hunger for human flesh still remains, so that's another threat new episodes could really sink their teeth into.

At the end of Joo Dong-geun's original webtoon, Nam-ra ends up with her friends instead of the hybrids, which is obviously very different to the show's current trajectory.

However, there's also a tease that suggests the virus has now spread to Japan, and that's definitely something season two could explore, whether the show just hints at it or whether the entire story is moved overseas. That latter option does seem unlikely though given that All of Us Are Dead is a South Korean production.

And Lee Jae-kyoo has had made more key changes from the webtoon, so maybe that's not the place to look to make season two predictions.

"I think the level of expression in a webtoon is very different from that in a film or drama series. In trying to make our series enjoyable to wide range of people, I definitely refined some characters and made them look less violent and murderous, including Gwi-nam and Na-yeon," Lee Jae-kyoo said (via the Korea Herald).

"It has been more than 30 years since I graduated high school. The original webtoon series began in 2009. I think 10 years is enough time for everything around us to change. I carefully monitored the expressions and behaviors of high school students today, though it was not easy," Lee said.

"Some actions and expressions of today’s students were very difficult to comprehend with the mind of an adult. We carefully communicated with the actors, who were high school students themselves, to confirm these parts," the director said.

This focus on updating the material has definitely led to an evolution from the source webtoon to the TV show, and we expect that expansion to continue in season two.

As we mentioned earlier, director Lee Jae-kyoo previously said that "if the first season can be seen as having presented humanity‘s survival, the next season can talk about the survival of zombies".

He also went on to say that he hoped the series would encourage viewers to make personal reflections, so it's likely we'll be seeing more of that come season two.

"The origin of zombie virus was introduced in the series as an attempt to highlight the people who take responsibility and those who do not when an event, such as school violence, occurs. Though it is another zombie action thriller, I thought the series provides the viewers with a chance to think about what kind of people they are," he said.

All of Us Are Dead's trailer won't infect our lives until at least a month before season two's arrival. That's just how Netflix does things.

But when footage showcasing this new chapter does arrive, you'll find everything you need to know right here.

Watch this space!

All of Us Are Dead is now available to watch on Netflix.
