It’s an old myth and it’s incredibly dangerous. You risk breaking their teeth, causing them to choke, or getting badly bitten yourself.

While a bitten tongue looks nasty, it usually heals quite quickly. A blocked airway or a shattered tooth is a much bigger drama. Your job is to keep them safe. Cushion their head, move dangerous objects away, and once the seizure stops, gently roll them onto their side.
