How to raise dino levels in ark ascended?

Hey fellow survivor! Leveling up dinos in Ark: Survival Ascended works a bit differently than just taming higher level creatures. Here are the main ways:

  • Experience Gain: Your tamed dinos gain XP when:
  • You kill creatures while riding them
  • They kill creatures (even when you're not riding)
  • They harvest resources

  • They're near creatures you kill

  • The BEST method is definitely killing Alpha creatures - they give massive XP boosts! Alphas are those glowing dinos that are tougher than normal ones.

  • Another great method is using Explorer Notes while riding your dino - these give you and your mount an XP boost for a short time.

You can also craft a Broth of Enlightenment which gives an XP boost, but it's pretty resource-intensive to make.

I've found that taking my favorite combat dino to carnivore island and clearing it out a few times levels them up crazy fast!

As someone with thousands of hours in Ark, here's my leveling strategy:

  1. Early Game: Have your dino follow you while you kill things - they get shared XP
  2. Mid Game: Craft a Note Book and collect explorer notes while riding your dino for that sweet XP multiplier
  3. Late Game: Hunt Alphas - especially Alpha Raptors and Carnos which are relatively easy to take down with a good tame

Pro tip: If you're on a server with breeding enabled, bred creatures get bonus levels from their parents' stats AND they level up faster than wild-tamed dinos!
