If you’re an avid user of WhatsApp, you may have noticed that sometimes the app starts to act up or become sluggish.

This can be frustrating and make it difficult to use the app as efficiently as you’d like.

In these cases, resetting the app’s settings is often necessary to get it running smoothly again.

However, if you’re not careful, resetting your WhatsApp settings can also result in losing important data, such as chats, media, etc.

So, how can you reset WhatsApp settings without losing data?

In this article, we’ll show you the easiest way to reset your WhatsApp settings without losing your data.

To prevent data loss during the resetting of Whatsapp Settings, it’s essential to back up your chats and media regularly. This will ensure you have copies of your critical information post-reset.

To back up your WhatsApp chats, follow these steps:

Backing up to Google Drive or iCloud will allow you to access your information from any device with an internet connection, while backing up to your device’s storage will keep a copy of your data on your phone.

Alternatively, you can set up automatic backups, so you don’t have to remember to do it manually. Tap on “Auto Backups” and select the preferred frequency.

The easiest method is to delete WhatsApp from your phone and reinstall it later.

There are several ways to delete WhatsApp from your Android smartphone:

To reinstall WhatsApp, go to the app in the Google Play Store and tap “Install.” Then, verify your phone number and use the “Restore” option to recover your data.

As with an Android device, it’s also easiest to delete WhatsApp from your iOS device and reinstall it.

To delete WhatsApp from your iOS device:

To reinstall the app, go to the App Store and tap “Install.” Verify your phone number and use the “Restore” function to recover your chat history and media.

If you need to reset your WhatsApp settings but don’t want to lose any of your data, back up your chats and media regularly.

You may either use the app’s built-in backup feature or a cloud service like Google Drive or iCloud. Doing so will ensure that your information stays safe at your selected location.

In this menu, select Settings, which is the last option.

Now, select the option Chats.

Look for the Chat backup option.

Click on the Back Up button to start the process.

This process will create a local copy of your conversations that will be stored in the local files system. In order to access that copy, you will need a special file browser to locate it. One of the most recommended browsers for this task is ES File Explorer, if you have no browser installed for this kind of files, click on the following green Download button to get the APK and install it.

Now, you have to search for the folder containing the backup. Open the app and enter the internal storage by clicking here.

The folder we are looking for is called FMWhatsApp, and inside that folder, you will find other folders and files with all the backup information.

Copy the FMWhatsApp folder to a safe place such as a computer or an external hard drive if you want to use it later, since creating and restoring backups, in this MOD and in many others, is unfortunately not very intuitive at the moment. To do this, just press and hold the folder for a few seconds until the options menu appears.

Choose the More option, and use any of the available methods to move that folder or back it up. You can share it through other apps like WhatsApp, save the backup on a PC, move it to other folders, and such.

When restoring the backup, all you have to do is copy that folder to the internal storage of the phone, the same place you copied it before with ES File Explorer. If you are going to use FMWhatsApp again, you will have to do nothing more, install it and wait until the option to restore the copy appears right after verifying your phone number.

But if you are going to use another MOD or even WhatsApp Messenger, you will have to rename the folder accordingly with your new client's name. Search for information about the client you want to install in order to know exactly what to do in that case.
