How to war thunder vr?
Go to the 'Advanced Settings' option in the client launcher and tick either the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive option depending on your headset. You will then need to wait for the download to complete. Launch War Thunder and sign into your account (the same one you created on the Gaijin Entertainment web page).
Here are a few addititions.
For WMR users:
You can still launch the game through SteamVR without issues as long as WMR-Portal is set as the active OpenXR runtime.
If you use the "Launch Warthunder in Steam VR Mode" option it will actually launch as OpenXR, if Steam VR was already running WMR will close it before launching WT.
If WMR is not set as OpenXR runtime you`ll get a popup in the WMR-Portal, just hit the "Repair" button and you're good to go.
Turn off Anti Aliasing for high-res HMDs
just a personal opinion, but i don't think that AA improves visual quality that much on high-resolution headsets like the Reverb G2.
An easy way to get a few extra fps.
"Export/Import" of Graphic settings
unlike the controll settings there is no built-in import/export functionality for graphic settings.
But you can still quickly change between VR and non-VR settings by copying and renaming the config.blk file.
For steam users this file should be locatet here: SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\War Thunder.
First set up your non-VR graphics profile.
Close the game copy the config.blk and rename one copy to config.blk.old after that set up your VR profile.
Now you have one config for VR and one for non-VR, if you want to switch profiles set the other profile to inactive by adding the .old file extension and remove the .old from the active profile.
There is a possibility that the .old profile breaks if an update introduces a new graphic option, keep that in mind.
About the "haze" setting, i've read several times that haze helps with spotting but i can't shake the feeling that this might be just a placebo effect.
Haze enables heat-refraction effects e.g. the air starts to flicker over a burning tank wreck, i don't know how this could help with spotting.
On the other hand this setting doesn't seem to effect performance that much, so maybe keep it enabled just in case.
