You need some thick-sliced bread. Like Texas toast. You also need butter, I think salted is better, and garlic powder.

First, you melt the butter. Then you mix in the garlic powder. Use a good amount.

Now, brush this lovely garlic butter onto one side only of the bread. That is the secret, I think.

Then you put it on a hot pan or a griddle. Butter side down, of course. Cook it for a minute or two until it is golden brown. You do not flip it over. The other side just gets soft and warm from the heat.

When I visit my family from France, I always want American BBQ. It is my favorite food here. I have tried some places in Virginia Beach. I think the best one is Beach Bully BBQ. It is very classic. The locals all seem to go there. Their pulled pork is really, really good.

My cousin also took me to Malbon’s BBQ, or “The Flying Pig”. This place was also amazing. The ribs were so tender. They have many good sauces you can try. For a true Virginia Beach experience, I think you will be very happy with either of these places.
