I feel it depends on personalities. Some couples love deciding everything together, others prefer freedom. As long as both agree on the method, it’s fine. What kills a relationship is forcing one system without consent.

I maintain individuality by keeping my career and passions alive. My partner has his own as well. We support each other’s goals, but we don’t always have to do everything together. That freedom keeps us both happy and less dependent emotionally.
