What are the drawbacks to being an anesthesiologist?

  1. When you take things lightly you have to be careful.Even if you are a short tempered, you need to be composed and calm.
  2. You need to be patient always.
  3. It's kind of frustrating dealing with surgeons.
  4. Even though you have masters in your specialty, you are always overlooked for your work.
  5. There are times when you feel a rush, but those make you keep going.
  6. If you have a small problem in your management, you get nightmares.

It requires a good knowledge of physiology and pharmacology as well as understanding many other specialties.You have a nice balance of patient contact, contact with your surgical colleagues and your nurse colleagues, because you get to perform all sorts of practical procedures.

Anaesthesiology is one of the most interesting and fascinating specialties in medicine.

I only did it for 30 years.

Being part of a team who's leader is a surgeon, you have little to object to, even after studying so much, you always feel down because the work is not appreciated.The hospital doesn't care about your objections because you aren't the one to get money.Even though the work may be genuine, keep doing it.That's what I feel in my daily practice.
