When you're logged in via SSH, the only variables you see are those set by pam_systemd : XDG_SESSION_ID , XDG_RUNTIME_DIR , XDG_SESSION_TYPE. The $XDG_SESSION_ID environment variable is initialized. The $XDG_SESSION_ID environment variable is initialized. They both fail to set environment variables: XDG_SEAT , XDG_VTNR , XDG_SESSION_ID.
