What treatments are available for brain eating amoeba infection?

Doctors usually use amphotericin B, an antifungal drug, sometimes injected directly into the brain area. Other medicines like miltefosine and antibiotics are also tried. However, success is very limited. Only a few people worldwide have survived after treatment.

Treatment is experimental. There is no guaranteed cure. Survival cases often had a combination of early diagnosis, antifungal drugs, and lowering the body temperature (therapeutic hypothermia).
