The James Bond movie franchise has been going strong since 1962, with the release of Dr. No. The legacy continued most recently in No Time to Die, which featured Daniel Craig as the secret agent for the final time. It's one of the few modern Bonds on a streaming service, unfortunately.

The James Bond movies are based on Ian Fleming's novels and short stories, first published in 1953. There are 27 films in total, 25 of which were produced by Eon Productions. Eon, founded by producers Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, now own the rights to all of Fleming's novels.

Over the course of the Bond franchise, six actors have portrayed the dashing, debonaire agent: Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. (A seventh, David Niven, played Bond in the non-Eon version of Casino Royale.) And with Craig's run ending, we've already been pondering who could replace him as the next James Bond.

The Bond movies have attracted a fervent fanbase and the franchise has become one of the most iconic in Hollywood history.

Watching the James Bond movies in release order is easy. We've also included the two non-Eon produced films in this list, sorted by theatrical release date and lead actor.

Updated May 2023

In the US, all of the James Bond movies have constantly moved between different streaming services, including HBO Max, Netflix, Prime Video, Peacock, Paramount Plus and Hulu. However, with Amazon's purchase of MGM studio, many came to MGM Plus — though that list isn't exactly static, as some have come and gone as of late. 12 are on HBO Max.

And all of the films are available to rent or own from digital retailers such as Amazon, Apple's iTunes and YouTube.

Things are much easier in Australia, however, as 007's adventures (with the exception of No Time To Die) can be streamed on services Stan and Prime Video. In this instance, Stan has the upper hand, with each James Bond film available to stream in 4K Ultra HD and HDR.

As for the task of watching the Fast & Furious movies in order? It's difficult, as they're spread across a lot of services — much like James Bond's movies.
