Which is correct, these people or this people.

I'm pretty sure it's "these people" since "people" is a single word.If I am wrong, anyone can correct me.

Depending on what context it is.It would be more common to say these people are a lot of person.

A lot of students attended a protest rally.These people want to be treated fairly.

If you use the word people to mean a specific ethnic group in the singular, then you could use 'this people'.

Scientists are observing the customs of an aboriginal tribe.This people follow a religion.

In the latter sense, the plural is 'these peoples.'

There are many different tribes in New Britain.There are different languages and beliefs of these people.

This is used for a person or something nearby.

That is used far away at a distant object or person.

My car is here.

There is a single car.

That is my vehicle.

The cars are mine.

More than one nearby.

These are my cars.

At a distance of more than one.

The people and the people are correct.

These are the books I own.

Those are my writing instruments.

Depending on the meaning of the word people, the use of either 'this' or 'these' can be correct.If two or more people are undistinguished by race or nationality, then these is the appropriate way to say it.If people is meant to refer to a specific race or nationality, then the singular form of the expression would be used.
