Then this version would be available for download from the Purchased Tab in the Mac App Store.
Apple removes older OS versions from general download once a new one is released, and the only way to keep access to them is to download them at least once (no installation necessary) while they are available so they are registered to your Apple ID and can be accessed after they are removed.
Beyond that, if your Mac supports Sierra, then you can only update to that.
If your Mac does not support Sierra, then you may be able to update to El Capitan or Lion, or Mountain Lion.
