Why nails have white spots?
It's usually from a little bump on your nail. It is not from a lack of calcium. The spot will grow out. No worry.
I’m a medical student, and I can confirm: most white spots are not serious. They’re just marks from trauma or nail stress. They grow out naturally. If you see too many, or if your nails are brittle, it may be worth checking your zinc levels or consulting a doctor.
Sometimes people think it’s due to calcium deficiency, but that’s mostly a myth. The real causes are usually: - Small injuries. - Allergic reactions to nail polish. - Frequent use of harsh nail products. In rare cases, it could indicate mineral deficiency or a health issue, but most of the time, it’s harmless.
White spots on nails are called leukonychia. They usually appear because of minor trauma to the nail matrix (the area where your nail grows). For example, banging your finger against a table might cause a tiny white mark that shows up weeks later as the nail grows.
Don’t worry too much. White spots on nails are very common and usually not a sign of disease. They are more of a cosmetic issue and will go away as your nail grows out.
