Will the revised Maruti Suzuki car GST rate force other car manufacturers to slash their prices too?

They have no choice. GST cut applies to all car makers, not just Maruti. So Tata, Hyundai, Mahindra, Toyota, all will adjust their ex-showroom prices. If they don’t, customers will shift to Maruti. Already Hyundai and Tata announced they are working on revising prices. So yes, everyone will follow.

This is the biggest auto industry reform in years. Of course every brand will adjust. It is not even about force. It is about survival.

Yes, but in a different way. Some companies may not pass 100% of the GST cut. They may keep part of it as extra margin. But market competition is so high that they cannot keep too much. So eventually, we will see price cuts across the industry, maybe at different levels.

Not really “force.” They are already required because tax is lower. But I think premium companies like Honda, Toyota may not cut heavily. They will keep the brand premium intact. Customers of such cars are less price sensitive.
