I don’t think so. Many times, companies give bigger discounts than GST benefit. Last year, some dealers offered ₹1 lakh off on unsold BS4 cars. That was more than today’s GST benefit. So discounts can sometimes be more impactful than GST cuts, depending on timing and stock.

Yes, I believe the GST cut is more impactful because it is structural and applies to all buyers across India. Discounts and offers are temporary, seasonal, or dealership-specific. But a tax cut permanently reduces the base price of the car. For example, a discount of ₹30,000 during Diwali is available only for a month. But the GST cut of ₹50,000 is applicable all year long. This creates a long-term impact on affordability.

I would say both matter. Discounts attract short-term buyers, GST cut benefits long-term market. Together, they make car buying easier.
