How do I update my bank details if I file ITR close to the extended deadline?
Yes, it is possible. Just log in to the portal → go to “My Profile” → click on “Bank Account” → add new details and pre-validate. After that, select the new bank account while filing ITR. Make sure the bank account is linked with PAN and Aadhaar.
I updated mine last year just 2 days before the deadline. It worked fine. The only important thing is to ensure the bank is on the approved list for refund processing. If your account is not pre-validated, refund may get stuck.
You can update your bank account details directly in the Income Tax e-filing portal under the “Profile” section. Once you add or edit your bank account, you need to pre-validate it using net banking or OTP. Even if you file close to the deadline, refunds will go to the updated account.
