How do you handle friends who are too negative?

I once told my negative friend: “Can we talk about something happy for once?” Surprisingly, he agreed and started noticing his own negativity. Honesty helped more than silence.

I try to cheer them with positive topics. But if every talk is dark, I limit time with them. My own mental health matters too.
