Streets of Tarkov, the game’s newest map, has a host of confusing extracts so to make it a little easier and give you a little hope of flogging off that precious loot, NME has visited every extraction to try and work out how you’re supposed to use them. A good rule of thumb is that if you can see black and yellow hazard tape, you’re ready to extract. However, because it’s Tarkov, this isn’t always true.

For reference, we’ll be using this community-made map by Jindouz. This shows the location of all of the PMC extracts, and we’ll be referring to things by the orientation shown in the map, too. You can see that there are extracts on nearly every major road on the map, although not all of them will be available at all times.
So, here’s how to extract from Streets of Tarkov, starting clockwise from the left-most extraction.

Collapsed Crane is exactly as it appears – in the construction area there is debris from a collapsed crane. Scavs spawn here, so clear them out and then get yourself into the guts of the crane until the extraction timer pops up on screen.
You can’t miss this one, just look for the giant crane that’s resting against a building. Be especially careful of scavs up in the main construction building itself, as they’ll have a perfect shot to take you out while you’re waiting for that extract timer to tick down.

This one is easy, head into the green zone, push north and you’ll see an actual checkpoint. Take a right – following that orange tape – and you should start extracting. Nothing to consider here, beyond how many player scavs and PMCs will be roaming that green area. Stay safe out there.

This is under Klimov street. On each side of the main road – Primorskij Ave – you’ll be able to see staircases leading down just like the one pictured, note the blue sign with steps leading downwards.
Head down here, take a right and you’ll be fine. Be warned that sometimes extract campers hide down here and be especially careful not to run past these entrances as you’ll get shot to death by the Klimov Street snipers and all your friends will laugh at you.

Let’s start with the important bit. Don’t walk past the sign shown here without firing a green flare or you’ll be killed. The correct procedure to extract here is to stop before this sign, pull out your green flare and fire it skywards. Once it’s in the air, you can run forwards and you should start extracting when you pass the hedges ahead of you.
Lots about this extract still needs a little bit of experimentation. It’s not clear whether one flare is enough for an entire squad – or indeed any player on the map – or whether it’s one flare per person, but it’s been confirmed to work for a single person. Providing you get the timing right. Get it wrong and you’ll lose the STM you adored because you ran in the wrong direction.
You’ll need to get this right for the Cease Fire! quest.

If you want to scurry into a hole in the ground like the Tarkov rat you are, Sewer River extract is the way to go. To extract here you need to head into the pictured hole in the ground and keep going till the extraction timer pops up.
Things to bear in mind: this is an incredible open extraction whichever way you come at it, with good sight lines for anyone with a half-decent optic to engage on you. Once you’re in the hole you’re fairly safe, but it can be a bit brown-trouser moving toward that opening.
Combined with the location at the corner of the busy industrial area, this is one of the worst extractions on the map.

Nestled up next to the cinema, this destroyed house will give you a quick extract with very little fuss. If you look at the image above, you can see the semi-demolished house next to the construction vehicles. Nip up there, run into the enclosed hallway and your extraction timer will start ticking down.
Nothing big to worry about here, but scavs can and will fire down at you from the side of the cinema area, while a sniper scav located on top of the cinema itself could also ruin your day, but otherwise this is a chill way to get out if you’re lucky enough to spawn with it.

Courtyard is an extraction that’s open to everyone, but to use the extract you will need to have a green flare active outside. The picture above is the alleyway next to the FCK chicken shop next to the cinema. If this flare is green, the extraction is open and you can head down this hallway to extract.
Head down the alleyway next to the flare and you’ll see an open door marked HELP. Walk down here and you’ll start your extract timer.

You’ll notice that this image doesn’t contain a car. That’s because Primorsky Ave Taxi is never bloody here.
If you do find it, you’ll need to dig in for 60 seconds with very little cover before extraction. Solo, this is tough as you’re next to some high-traffic areas. With a group you can control the space a little better, but remember to be back at the extract before the timer runs down or you’ll be left behind. Each player will need at least 5,000 rubles, but this cost could be higher or lower based on your Fence rep and charisma skill.
This quest is needed to successfully complete the Dangerous Road quest, which requires a successful extract via the Primorsky Ave Taxi spot.

If you’re wondering how you can reach the extraction point, we’re here to help. This guide will walk you through the necessary steps. We’ll even give you some handy tips so you can enjoy the game even more.
If you don’t extract before the time runs out, you’ll lose your precious loot! You can check out the timer by pressing ‘’O’’ once. Pressing ‘’O’’ twice will bring up a list of extraction points.
There are usually two types of extraction points, those with question marks and those without. The latter is rather easy to use. The points with question marks, on the other hand, are going to take some extra actions and conditions.
Extraction points with question marks are random as to what requisites and conditions are required. Some are lost after another player uses them, and others require keys or other special items. Some points expire quickly, so you better hurry.
Vehicular extraction points are also found on occasion. They take time to extract from and cost some money. It’s up to you to decide if this is the right point to use.
You’re not the only one who wants to extract, however. Other PMCs and Scavs will make their way to easy or guaranteed extraction points. You’ll have to fight and stay alive before you can get out with your loot.
Always keep your guard up, look around you, and study the extraction points in offline sessions. You can find maps through websites that detail everything you need to know. Memorize the key details and you’ll find yourself traveling faster.
Alternatively, you can print a map out and place it beside you. Some of these maps have key details noted. Combine this with your knowledge.
Currently, there aren’t any other ways to get Escape from Tarkov aside from downloading the official launcher. The game is currently in beta and won’t come to Steam or any other platforms like Epic Games anytime soon. You need to go to the original website to download the game.
Make sure you don’t delete the Battlestate Games Launcher after installing EFT. You won’t be able to access the game without the launcher. Assuming the installation process goes off without a hitch, you can start playing right away.
There are plans to eventually add Escape from Tarkov to Steam, but this will have to wait until an official release. It may even feature on consoles in the future.
Customs are often touted as the best map for beginners to learn how to play the game. The spawn and extraction points are straightforward and there’s a lot of cover to help with movement. Since the best points of interest are near the center, new players and Scavs can stay alive without running into PMCs.
Let’s take a look at the points of interest of the Customs map:
This building is important for some quests and also has the best loot on the map. Since it’s a dorm building, you’ll have to be prepared for a lot of close-quarters combat. The long corridors are good for mid-range fights, but you’ll get up close more often.
To fully explore this area, you’ll need some keys. Otherwise, you can be content picking up leftover loot.
Reshala, a boss, and his bodyguards spawn in this building. You can also find The Marked Room, third floor, and room 314.
This is close to the 3-story building. It’s very similar and Reshala also spawns here. You’ll need the keys too.
Other than being a Reshala spawn, players can come here for some good loot. The loot can be keys, weapons, Bitcoin, and more. A lot of players converge here, so be prepared for a fight.
Scavs spawn here often, so players with Scav-killing missions like visiting this location. It’s a decent vantage point but you might get spotted quickly in return. There’s not a lot of loot here, sadly.
This place is great for supplies but the overhead garages allow others to ambush you. Beginners should get some basic loot here to start with.
This point of interest is where many players spawn, and you’ll need keys to explore it fully. It’s not the best place to linger. If you don’t have a quest here, it’s advised to leave quickly.
This industrial area doesn’t have a lot of loot. PMCs do tend to spawn here, so you should be careful.
This is often an extraction point, but NPC Scavs spawn here. There is not a lot of loot either.
PMCs generally extract here, especially if you spawned Customs side. There’s usually a lot of loot nearby. If you manage to spawn here, consider yourself lucky.
Customs is a great map to start learning the game. When you’re more confident you can run raids on the other maps.
There isn’t much of a difference when it comes to extracting as a Scav. The main difference is the different extraction points from PMCs. You can press ‘’O’’ to check the points and then plan your journey there.
Scavs tend to have more options when it comes to extracting. Check your map to see what’s the best one to take. Note that the different spawn locations and times will require to change your approach every time.
As long as you escape alive and have some loot, you’re a winner. You need to pick the best spots to loot and try to avoid combat where possible. If you have no choice but to hide, you’ll have to land all your shots.
Heal up when you have a moment and make sure you don’t have any status effects on your character. When you’re running a PMC raid, try not to bring too much valuable gear with you. Instead, you can take your Scav gear with you should you manage to extract from the raid.
Strategize, familiarize yourself with the map, and you’ll find yourself more successful. Always find the best extraction point to escape with. If you’re near an optional extraction point, you can go and try extracting.
Upgrade your hideout if you have the funds. You can get back into the fight fully healed and equipped with better gear.
Make your way there and stand in the extraction zone. Make sure you’re inside or the timer won’t appear. Once the countdown is over, you’ve successfully extracted from the raid.
You can either stand still and wait for the timer to countdown or fulfill any requirements. Check your map and you’ll know what conditions to complete before extracting in certain points. Vehicular extractions points will require some money and time before you can leave.
Extraction is when you leave the map before the time for the raid runs out. You need to travel to an extraction point. If you fail to do so, you won’t be able to keep your loot.
All Escape from Tarkov players must know how to extract. Now that you know how to do it, you can start looting. The more loot you have, the better your playing experience will be.
