How to grow goji berries from cuttings?
Propagating goji berries from cuttings is incredibly easy and reliable! I've expanded my goji patch this way for years:
Take hardwood cuttings in late winter from healthy, dormant plants. Each cutting should have 3-4 nodes, about pencil thickness. Make bottom cut just below a node, top cut just above a node.
You can root in water or directly in soil. I prefer well-draining potting mix with extra perlite. Insert cuttings so 2-3 nodes are buried, leaving 1-2 above soil. Keep moist but not soggy. Rooting takes 4-8 weeks.
Once new growth appears and roots are established, transplant to final location. Gojies aren't picky about soil but prefer full sun. They're very drought tolerant once established.
You'll get fruit within 1-2 years from cuttings! Much faster than from seed.
