Instagram provides a native feature to generate a QR code for your profile. You need to share this QR code with others who will then scan the code to view your IG profile.

1. In the Instagram app, go to your profile screen by tapping on the profile picture icon.

2. Tap on the three-bar icon at the top and select QR Code from the menu.

Copying a direct link seems like the easiest way to share an Instagram profile link. However, that option is not available if you’re using the Instagram app. Fortunately, there’s a workaround for this.

All Instagram profile links are made out of three parts: The Instagram website address (https://www.instagram.com), a forward slash (/), and a username. That means that if you just add a forward slash and your username to the Instagram website address, you’ll get your Instagram profile link.

Instagram’s app for iPhone and Android does not offer the option to copy your profile link. However, using a workaround, you can generate a link that takes people to your Instagram profile.

To do so, first, open the Instagram app on your phone. In the app’s bottom bar, tap your profile icon.

On your profile page, at the top, you will see your username. Note this username.

But, what about links?

Surely there has to be a way of sharing links on individual posts and profiles, right?

Sadly, there is no way for every Instagram user to share links on posts, but they can share links on their bio page, one at a time. Did you notice the word “every” in the previous sentence? That’s because there are exceptions, and one of those exceptions is users that have over 10,000 followers and a verified account.

Those who meet the specific requirements can include a URL in their Instagram Story that allows others to swipe up to open the link. Yes, anyone can have this feature, but it costs money and requires a business account if you don’t meet the requirements. The workaround is called a paid Story Ad, which costs $1 or more depending on publishing duration and the options you choose.

If you met the Instagram requirements to post links or paid for an Instagram Story Ad, the way of obtaining and copying URLs of Instagram posts is very simple. You just have to know where to look.

You can paste the link anywhere you want, be it an Instagram DM, another messaging app, or anywhere else. Yes, you can only paste in Instagram using Instagram DM unless you met the specific requirements or paid for a Story Ad.

As far as your own profile goes, it’s super-easy to find out what your URL is. Every account on Instagram has the same URL pattern: https://www.instagram.com/username.

Just add the username you chose after the Instagram URL, and you’ll have your own link.

Copying a URL from the desktop version of Instagram is much easier than from within the mobile app. The reason for this is that the URL is clearly visible in your browser’s address bar. Simply navigate to the profile or a post that you want to share, then copy a URL that you see in the address bar, and paste it wherever you want it.

You can do this for all posts and profiles, no matter if they’re private or not. Keep in mind, though, that the person you send the URL to won’t be able to see the profile or any of its content if it’s set to private.

Many users would also love the ability to link out to different pages from their Instagram posts. Unfortunately, this isn’t possible. You can copy a link to your post’s description, but it won’t be clickable.
