What is shram card?

Adding a modem/fax function to a SPARCstation can be done with a serial and modem card. There are many establishments that have these cards available. If a device is compatible with your SPARCstation, you should check with your Sunservice provider or card vendor.

It may be necessary to format the memory card before using it. The fdformat utility can be used to format floppy disks and memory cards.

There is no data on the card after Formatting.

There is no way to install a NEC-DOS file system on a PCMCIA memory card.

If you want to format one of them, you'll need to specify a device name for it; otherwise, the fdformat utility will default to the floppy drive.

The device name of a memory card is formatted in this way. Either way, it's either /rdsk/cntndnsn or /Dsk/cntndnsn.

For example, the device name /dsk/c1t6d0s2 is a PCMCIA memory card with a sockets controller logical number 1, technology number 6, and segment number 2.
