Is the reduction in Maruti Suzuki car GST rate enough to make EVs less attractive in comparison?

Answer # 1 #
Yes, a little bit. Many buyers who were thinking about Tata Tiago EV may now rethink because petrol WagonR is cheaper after GST cut. Middle-class buyers are very price sensitive. If difference is big, EV dream can wait.
Answer # 2 #
No, because EVs already have a very low GST rate of 5%. Even with Maruti Suzuki car GST rate coming down to 18% for small cars, it is still higher than 5%. But the real issue is price. EVs are costly. Until battery price falls, EVs remain premium. For now, Maruti petrol cars may look cheaper, but EV buyers are different. They are looking for environment and long-term savings, not just price.
