I use Loom a lot, and yes, you can download videos along with captions. Here’s how: 1. Open your Loom video link. 2. Click the Download button (usually under the “Share” menu). 3. Make sure “Include captions” is checked in the options before downloading. That way, the downloaded MP4 has captions embedded. If you don’t see the option, it might be because the captions weren’t generated yet—Loom takes a while to process them. More info here: Loom Help Center.

If you’re on a free Loom plan, the captions feature is limited. You’ll see transcripts on the web player but they might not be included in downloads. In that case, record the screen with captions on (screen recorder) or upgrade your plan. It’s frustrating, but that’s how they upsell the feature.

When I needed captions with my Loom download, I had to export the transcript separately. Loom lets you download the transcript in .vtt or .txt format. After downloading the video and transcript, I used a free tool like HandBrake to “burn in” the captions. Took a bit longer, but it worked flawlessly. So if Loom doesn’t directly give you embedded captions, that’s the workaround.
