What is the role of Kalash Sthapana (Ghatasthapana) in Navratri 2025 and how is it done?

Kalash Sthapana, also called Ghatasthapana, marks the beginning of Navratri 2025. It is performed on the first day, which falls on 22nd September. The Kalash symbolizes prosperity, purity, and the presence of Goddess Durga in the house. Steps to do Kalash Sthapana: 1. Clean the puja area and spread a red cloth. 2. Fill a pot (Kalash) with water, place mango leaves around its neck, and put a coconut wrapped in red cloth on top. 3. Place the Kalash on a bed of soil with barley seeds sown in it. 4. Light a diya and recite mantras while placing the Kalash. 5. Worship the Kalash daily for nine days.On the tenth day, the Kalash is immersed in water. It is believed that Maa Durga resides in the Kalash during the entire Navratri, blessing the home with peace and prosperity.
