A plush Kensington house nestled next to leafy Holland Park has earned more in the past eight years than most London workers.

The three-storey eight-bed house in Ilchester Place, which is on the market with a £13m price tag, has raked in £130 an hour since it was last sold in 2007.

The rising value of the house has netted its owner – the government of Quebec – nearly £10m in that time as the house now commands more than four times the purchase value.

Ilchester Place, a property hotspot just moments from Kensington High Street and home to stars such as Robbie Williams and Jimmy Page, is the most profitable street in Britain. Last year, one owner of another eight-bedroom property made £132 an hour over 15 years.

The £130 an hour income is more than six times that of most Londoners, who earn on average £40,000 a year.

The property, listed on Rightmove, also comes with three bathrooms, a cellar, attic and gardens to the front and rear. The house also includes planning permission for a near 6,000 sq ft extension.

Located in North London's Highgate, home to the likes of Kate Moss, Liam Gallagher and Jude Law, Heathfield House boasts over 18,000 square feet and stands on 2.3 acres of land.

‘The real asset is in the land and the proximity to the village.’ Lee Koffman of UK Sotheby’s International Realty tells Homes & Gardens.

'You can go for a good jog around the grounds of this house, no one can look in, and you’re free from the worry of having to mix with people in parks.

'My client does have an alignment towards butterflies, so you’ll see butterflies throughout the house, incorporated within the design of certain elements,' Lee adds, explaining that in the spa leisure room, butterfly details can be seen in the tiles.

Behind the gates, a 100m driveway lined with neatly trimmed hedges leads up to the futuristic, three-storey home. It has everything any family could possibly need to spend lockdown in total comfort, with a large living space, a wine cellar, a spa leisure room with a sauna and steam room, a games room and a roof terrace, as well as dressing rooms and a laundry room.

The property boasts the only central courtyard in Ilchester Place which, along with the lowered floors, adds to the sense of space. The level of finish is really good for the Kensington market too; this is more Chelsea-Mayfair standard.
