who lives in ilchester place?
A plush Kensington house nestled next to leafy Holland Park has earned more in the past eight years than most London workers.
The three-storey eight-bed house in Ilchester Place, which is on the market with a £13m price tag, has raked in £130 an hour since it was last sold in 2007.
The rising value of the house has netted its owner – the government of Quebec – nearly £10m in that time as the house now commands more than four times the purchase value.
Ilchester Place, a property hotspot just moments from Kensington High Street and home to stars such as Robbie Williams and Jimmy Page, is the most profitable street in Britain. Last year, one owner of another eight-bedroom property made £132 an hour over 15 years.
The £130 an hour income is more than six times that of most Londoners, who earn on average £40,000 a year.
The property, listed on Rightmove, also comes with three bathrooms, a cellar, attic and gardens to the front and rear. The house also includes planning permission for a near 6,000 sq ft extension.
Here's a peek inside.
Ilchester Place, a west London street that counts Simon Cowell, David and Victoria Beckham and Robbie Williams amongst its neighbours, has been named the most expensive for residential property in Britain.
The fly-on-the-wall documentary follows UK Sotheby’s International Realty and its wealthy clients. While all the properties shown were spectacular, the most memorable of all is this London mansion on the market for £40 million.

Located in North London's Highgate, home to the likes of Kate Moss, Liam Gallagher and Jude Law, Heathfield House boasts over 18,000 square feet and stands on 2.3 acres of land.
‘The real asset is in the land and the proximity to the village.’ Lee Koffman of UK Sotheby’s International Realty tells Homes & Gardens.
‘It’s a great house for someone that works in town and wants some outside space and freedom.'

'You can go for a good jog around the grounds of this house, no one can look in, and you’re free from the worry of having to mix with people in parks.
'My client does have an alignment towards butterflies, so you’ll see butterflies throughout the house, incorporated within the design of certain elements,' Lee adds, explaining that in the spa leisure room, butterfly details can be seen in the tiles.
Behind the gates, a 100m driveway lined with neatly trimmed hedges leads up to the futuristic, three-storey home. It has everything any family could possibly need to spend lockdown in total comfort, with a large living space, a wine cellar, a spa leisure room with a sauna and steam room, a games room and a roof terrace, as well as dressing rooms and a laundry room.
It also has a total of seven bathrooms and five bedrooms, each with en suite bathrooms (plus five other bedrooms rooms for live-in staff in the detached house).
Keeping fit while gyms are closed won't be a problem with the property's at-home gym, tennis court and 94ft by 39ft indoor swimming pool – with windows that drop down to lead out onto the garden.
Plus, when it comes to working from home, there's a home office at the top of the building with panoramic views over the garden and Hampstead Heath.
And at the end of the day, a glass lift will take you upstairs to bed.
The mega-mansion, which offers total privacy, has attracted some so-called 'high net worth individuals', with a former prime minister and an A-list musician among its high-profile viewers.

llchester Place, Holland Park, London, W14.
This seven bedroom family house in Kensington's exclusive Holland Park Conservation Area combines the benefits of a central London location with the sort of space and seclusion usually only afforded by the countryside.
The combination doesn’t come cheap however: it is priced at £35 million (Dh165 million) but those buyers who can afford it won’t be disappointed.
Included within the accommodation are three floors of entertaining, leisure and living space. The formal reception area provides a wealth of natural light from three-metre floor-to-ceiling windows and opens directly onto the landscaped garden and terrace.
The informal entertaining and living space is at lower ground floor level and features a central courtyard and handcrafted kitchen/living area.
In addition, there is a 15-metre indoor swimming pool with full spa facilities. All of the bedrooms have access to ensuite facilities and have been individually designed.
The property dates back to the early 20th century and has been completely redesigned by 1508, the London architectural firm behind the Dubai Luxury Hotel and No.1 Grosvenor Square, to name but two of its opulent back catalogue.
If one award-winning architect isn’t enough, then the garden is designed by Randle Siddeley, the architect behind the Chelsea Waterfront. And, for good measure, listed and historic homes refurbishment specialists Stanhope Gate Architecture were also involved.
What are the first impressions?
An overriding sense of space and luxury.
What is the standout feature of the property?
There are too many to name just one but we love the kitchen/ground floor which features a double height ceiling. It’s the perfect space for entertaining and includes a games room and a controlled temperature walk-in wine cabinet.
How does it compare to other properties in the area?
The property boasts the only central courtyard in Ilchester Place which, along with the lowered floors, adds to the sense of space. The level of finish is really good for the Kensington market too; this is more Chelsea-Mayfair standard.
