What type of suspension system does Tata Curvv EV use?
Some people might be disappointed it's not a multi-link rear suspension, but for this segment and price point, a well-tuned torsion beam is more than adequate. The key is the tuning – spring rates and damping. Tata's engineers have gotten really good at this. The low center of gravity from the battery pack also helps immensely with cornering stability, making the car feel more planted than a conventional SUV with the same suspension setup.
For a comfortable ride suited to Indian conditions, the Tata Curvv EV is expected to use a tried-and-tested suspension setup: Front: Independent MacPherson Strut Rear: Torsion Beam or a semi-independent twist beamThis is a common and cost-effective setup for front-wheel-drive compact SUVs. It provides a good balance of ride comfort and handling, while also freeing up space for the battery pack underneath the floor. Tata has done a great job tuning the suspension on the Nexon EV for our roads, so we can expect a similar, if not better, job with the Curvv – comfortable enough for bad roads but stable at high speeds.
It’ll be similar to Nexon’s suspension geometry, maybe with some tweaks for EV weight distribution. Expect a balance between comfort and handling, but not a sporty setup like European cars.
